- How To Make A Vegan Halloween Charcuterie Board
What Is A Charcuterie Board? What is the Difference Between A Grazing, Snack and Charcuterie Board?
A charcuterie board is a selection of preserved cold meats, hard or semi-soft cheese, fresh fruits, nuts, and preserves served on a wooden board.
Choose a large or smaller cutting board, depending on how many people you serve.
Modern charcuterie boards do not need to contain meat. With the right ingredients, an epic vegan charcuterie board will satisfy your meat eaters friends! It's all about filling up the empty spaces on the vegan snack board!
Ingredients and Substitutes
Simple ingredients are required to make a killer, healthy festive platter unforgettable. The perfect appetizer includes different textures. Like traditional charcuterie boards, we always include a mix of grapes, vegan meats and cold cuts, vegan version hard cheeses and spreads. Use a small ramekin to hold smaller items like sweet treats like small dark chocolate chips, nuts, or watery fruits.
Go big or with any combination you like. Here are a few items to get you started!
Vegan Sliced Cheese - Plant-based mozzarella cheese ghost cutouts are incredible decorations and backdrop to the perfect vegan charcuterie board. We love Nurishh mozzarella-style sliced cheeses.
Semi-soft Cheeses - I add this organic and dairy-free brie cheese made with fermented cashews. Nuts For Cheese makes the best one.
Soft Cheese - Our Homemade Vegan Almond Ricotta Cheese Recipe is quick and easy to make with three simple ingredients. This versatile dairy-free ricotta recipe has a light and fluffy, creamy texture.
Fresh Cucumbers - Sliced cucumbers with googly candy eyeballs make great astonished monsters.
Mini Peppers - Green and red peppers with a monster face cut out are tasty bite-sized vegetable snacks.
Apple Monster - Make apple monsters by adding cheese string worms between apple slices.
Mini Mandarin Oranges - Peeled mini mandarin oranges make cute mini pumpkins. They are a great way to add colour to a vegan cheese board. They are our favourite snacks during this time of year.
Crackers and Pita Breads - Snack platters are only complete with something savoury to nibble on and to scope up spreads and preserves. Include some gluten-free crackers for your celiac guests. We are obsessed with this Plant Based Chili Con Queso Dip with tortilla chips!
Jam and Preserves - We love adding apricot jam and pear preserves to our vegan board. The tangy sweetness balances the mix of ingredients perfectly.
Savoury Nuts and Candied Nuts - Add a mix of roasted nuts or our favourite Homemade Candied Walnuts. These are always a crowd pleasure!
Chocolate Orange Slices - This super delicious dessert is made with the perfect pair of dark chocolate and orange slices. Just melt the dark chocolate, dip half a slice of peeled orange slices in, and lay them on parchment paper to harden.
