The best salads with beef steak start with solid and flavourful sliced buttery beef stripes such as our favourite Air Fryer Bo Luc Lac recipe!
Prepare the fresh ingredients while the Vietnamese Shaking Beef is cooking. This tasty and very well-textured beef salad is one of the easiest recipes ever!
Ingredients and Substitutes
Spicy Beef Steak
- Rib eye cut into 1 inch cubes or 2 inch strips
- Corn starch
- Baking Soda
- Water
- Vegetable Oil or Neutral Oil
- Fish Sauce or Homemade Vegan Nước Chấm
- Oyster Sauce
- Light Soy Sauce or Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- Dark Soy Sauce
- Brown Sugar or Monk Fruit Sugar
- Sea Salt or Kosher Salt
- Garlic Powder or Minced Garlic Cloves
- Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- Lime Zest
Fresh Lime Chili Spicy Dressing
- Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- Lime Zest
- Fish Sauce or Homemade Vegan Nước Chấm
- Bird's Eye Chili or Red Chili Peppers
- Monk Fruit Sugar or Palm Sugar
- Fresh Minced Garlic Cloves or Garlic Powder [4 clove garlic]
Salad
- Romaine Lettuce Leaves or Baby Gem Lettuce
- Carrots, ribboned
- Shallots, rough chop
- Radish, sliced
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Cucumbers, thin slices
- Red Peppers, juiliene
- Fresh Mint Leaves, rough chop
- Fresh Cilantro, rough chop
- Finely Chopped Green Onions
- Crushed Toasted Peanuts (optional for garnish)
Instructions
First, wash the beef and pat dry with a kitchen paper towel.
In a large bowl, tenderize the meat with baking soda.
Then marinate, and air fry the Vietnamese Shaking Beef.
While the beef marries, prepare the salad ingredients and sweet and sour chilli lime dressing ingredients.
In a large bowl, add fresh lime juice, lime zest, fish sauce or homemade Vegan Nước Chấm, bird's eye chili, monk fruit sugar and minced garlic. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.
The garlic's richness and the chilli's heat create a sweet-sour effect with a good kick. Your taste buds will explode with the aromatic spicy flavor.
While the ribeye or flank steak is cooking in the air fryer, prepare the fresh vegetable salad.
Wash and pat dry veggies. I also highly recommend investing in a quality salad spinner. Drying your vegetables and fresh herbs thoroughly is essential after washing them. It helps prevent watered-down salad dressings, and the salad stays fresher and longer!
A fuss-free way to get perfectly thin ribbons of carrots is to use a vegetable peeler. Thinly sliced carrots take the vinaigrette much better and quick pickles.
In a large mixing bowl, add chopped and sliced vegetables.
Lightly drizzle the Spicy Lime Salad Dressing onto the greens. Do not flood the salad with the dressing.
Give it a perfect mix, so the chilli, garlic and sugar wrap around each dietary fiber!
Divide salad on two plates and top with air-fried spicy beef strips and an extra spoonful of salad dressing.
Garnish with finely chopped spring onion, fragrant herbs and crushed toasted peanuts.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes: Remaining dressing can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Make-Ahead Tips
The easiest way to prepare this salad is to meal prep ahead of time.
Vegetables can be shredded in advance and stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
The salad dressing can also be made in advance the night before.
Air Fried Vietnamese Shaken beef can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
The best way to store leftovers is in this Rubbermaid brilliance container. I love that it is clear and 100% leakproof!
