Homemade salad dressing is lovely and much healthier than store-bought processed foods. I also made a hearty alkaline homemade dressing to complement a healthy diet of vibrantly colorful salad, fruits and vegetables packed with nutritional value.
Super Alkaline Salad Dressing
Instead of using another acidic salad dressing like Caesar dressing or lemon vinaigrette with Balsamic vinegar, we use a few simple ingredients on the list of most alkaline foods to make this super healthy dressing.

Health Benefits of Alkaline Foods
If you are wondering if it is better to eat acidic or alkaline foods, the answer is an alkaline diet helps improve overall health. Some of the benefits include the following:
- Reduces inflammation
- Promote weight loss and avoid weight gain
- Eliminate toxins
- Promotes energy
- Improve kidney health
- Inhibits the growth of yeast and bad bacteria
What Is Alkaline?
Alkaline foods have a pH higher than 7. Foods on the pH scale between pH 7-14 are alkaline. Foods on the pH scale between 0-6 are considered acidic.
Alkaline means that something has a pH higher than 7. The human body is about 7.4 pH. If the body becomes overly acidic, calcium depletes, weakening bones, osteoporosis, inflammation and kidney disorders.

Ingredients and Substitutes
This vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free lemon dressing uses a can of full-fat unsweetened coconut milk for extra creaminess. This flavor combination has the perfect balance of little sweet, tart and a lot of tropical!
- Unsweetened Coconut Milk (such as Thai Kitchen Coconut Milk) – coconuts Contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) fatty acids and omega-6
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Avocado Oil
- White Wine Vinegar
- Fresh Lemon Juice - Lemons are a good source of Vitamin C
- Coconut Sugar or Maple Syrup
- Garlic Powder
- Salt and Black Pepper
- Toasted Coconut Flakes
- Lemon Zest (optional)
If you want to add extra boost in flavor profile, fresh herbs such as a little bit of fresh thyme or dill does wonders.
Some people like to add a little Dijon mustard (note acidic food ingredient).
If you want to make increase the amount of healthy fat this easy salad dressing recipe, add a tablespoon of coconut oil to compliment your keto recipes.

Instructions and Cooking Tips
This lemon salad dressing with coconut milk is full of flavour. It is super easy to make. It doesn’t even require much prep time! You do not need to use a food processor or blender to combine the ingredients. Simply toss everything in a mason jar or medium bowl and give it a shake.
I also highly recommend investing in a quality salad spinner. Drying your veggies thoroughly is so important after they are washed. It helps prevent watered down salads dressings and the salad stays fresher, longer!
What To Serve With Toasted Coconut and Lemon Coconut Dressing
If you are wondering what salad dressings are alkaline, this tropical salad dressing goes well with a large bowl of fresh fruit salad or a salad packed fresh vegetables from the garden such as bell peppers.
If you are a fan of easy recipes and crave different ways to spruce up your daily salad, this lemony coconut dressing is a real treat!
