Across from the Law Courts is Guu Garden Izakaya on 808 Nelson Street. It is part of the Guu family of restaurants. Up the stairs you will find a cozy but spacious izakaya with wooden floors, garden patio and large bar space. The atmosphere is more relaxed and quieter than the other Guu locations filled with loud greetings and tight spaces. Guu Garden menu offers tapas izakaya type dishes such as kobacha croquette, sashimi tuna stacks, grilled calamari and oden.
Daily special garlic juicy plump mussels. The broth is light but flavorful.
Tender grilled calamari.
Tuna Sashimi stack with ponzu sauce.
Kobacha croquette much like a Scotch egg. There is a hard boiled egg between smashed pumpkin. It has a crispy outer crust drizzled with special mayo sauce.
Oden marinating selection: tofu, egg, etc.
Chicken Karaage: crispy with a moist center. Served with mayo on the side.
