Round 1 of Dine Out Vancouver 2017 we made our way to Ancora over at 1600 Howe Street. I haven't been back to Ancora since their grand opening. Personally, I'm dying to have their caviar service and sushi made by Sushi Chef Yoshi Tabo again. (soon! just a couple more months!)
If you haven't been to one of 100 Best Restaurants in Canada 2016 then Dine Out Vancouver is a great time to go. Their $40 per person Prix Fixe is great value and there are plenty of add-ons available like pan seared scallops, white tiger prawns, gnocchi, etc.
Crispy Prawn Causa: three crispy batter prawns served beet potato, kale chicharron, rocoto emulsion and a tangy sweet and sour escabeche sauce.
Nikkei Style Trout Ceviche: a well balanced dish of acidity and fresh seafood served with daikon, cilantro, hoisin sesame leche de tigre and puffed nori for crunch.
Grilled Kuterra Salmon: A medium well (since I can't eat raw foods right now) was still beautifully cooked. Served with a paella like roasted red pepper rice, chorizo, shellfish, roasted garlic and lemon espuma.
Roasted Pork Tenderloin: Tender pork served with celeriac puree, potato pavee, pickled red radish, brussels sprouts, grainy mustard jus.
We each added two tiger prawns with garlic butter and wine to our entrees.
Tres Leches Cake: spiced chantilly, strawberries, dulce de leche
Rice Pudding Panna Cotta: purple corn gel, apple crumble, pineapple sorbet. I loved the pineapple sorbet but had wished my panna cotta was more milky.
