Aleph Eatery is a Middle Eastern restaurant that recently just opened in Vancouver at 1889 Powell Street. The space although tight is bright, airy and cozy - decor cross sectioned between Kinfolk and Cereal Magazine. Pastel pallets faded and banquette seating frames the restaurant with floating tables to maximize space. I am in love. Plus it is baby friendly - the owners welcomed baby (and stroller) without giving us a side-eye.
To start, two cups of Arabic Coffee with Matchstick Roasters coffee beans.
If you come here for the Hummus, I would suggest you order the Silk Road.
Silk Road 12: eggplant, labneh, hummus, zaatar, honey. One of the best dip platter around with great flavour profiles that doesn't become too washed up. +2 add extra chimichurri saj.
Fattoush Salad 8 small | 10 large: Brightly flavoured with a good balance of acidity. Cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons, pomegranate vinaigrette.
If you haven't had a chance to visit Aleph, we highly recommend it. If the restaurant isn't too busy young entrepreneurs Haitham and Fiona are friendly and would tell you the story behind the restaurant.
