The Urban Tea Merchant Vancouver recently launched their Lunar New Year Tea Service to celebrate upcoming Chinese New Year! With the festivities just around the corner, we appreciate a little homage to our heritage. Last time we had a Chinese themed high tea service was for Autumn Celebration Tea Set Afternoon Tea.

If you are wondering where to go for afternoon tea in Vancouver downtown, The Urban Tea Merchant is located on Alberni Street. It is right beside Thierry Chocolaterie Pastisserie and adjacent to various Glowbal Group restaurants (Black & Blue, Coast, Italian Kitchen).

Year of the Monkey with Jasmine Monkey King Tea: Reminiscent of legendary emperors and dynasties, these dark, emerald-green leaves infuse into a delicate jasmine inflected cup, perfect for a nostalgic afternoon.

Longevity Tea: Mélange of rare white teas which boast a high percentage of downy silver tips. This blend infuses into a royal yellow cup and yields a raw and crystalline flavour, sparkling and fresh. A joyful tea to extend the brevity of existence.

TWG Tea Yunnan Pu-Erh Tea Brick: Fetching hundreds and even thousands of dollars at auction, Pu-Erh tea bricks are the most sought-after teas in the world. As with any valuable collectable. A strong and earthy fragrance.

    SAVOURIES

Pork and Chive Wontons, Chicken and Ginger Broth - new to the menu this year is a delightful hot bowl of dumplings. Dumplings symbolize good fortune. The additional of a home comfort dish is always welcomed.

Pea Shoots "Lemon Bush Tea" Alantic Lobster Torchon, Tobiko Aioli, Yuzu Gel. The lobster is another new addition to the menu. We liked the freshness and texture. The slightly spicy tobiko aioli is delicious. We hope to see a permanent home for this on the menu.
