The new Cafe Medina Vancouver is now located on Richards Street by Library Square. It is still the same old Cafe Medina. It is still one of my favorite brunch in Vancouver. Chef Jonathan Chovancek’s new menu with some all time classics and a lofty open interior by designer Brian Kane. The new Cafe Medina now sits more people in one space. You now don't need to meander upstairs to a back from to Chambar. Nonetheless, life is still too short for bad coffee.
Paella 14: Baked egg with curried orzo, Hungarian chorizo, zuchhini, red pepper, roasted corn and grano padano. Loved the perfectly cooed egg with a runny yolk. The orzo has a nice texture and bite.
Tagine 17: 2 poached eggs, spiced chicken, Merguez lamb sausage and summer vegetable stew with chickpeas, olives and preserved lemon with grilled focaccia. Another one of my favorites that is heavier in flavors.
Les Boulettes 17: 2 poached eggs with spicy Moroccan lamb meatballs in a roasted pepper and rich tomato stew with raita and grilled focaccia. This is very similar to the Tagine. Next time I will need to remember to order something different. Perhaps the Le Peameal with in-house bacon and egg sandwich with caramelized lemon aioli, mustard vinaigrette and greens on grilled ciabbata.
Waffle 3.15 each: Peach and Bourbon butterscotch topping and Orange Marmalade topping with orange zest with a bitter sweet tasting topping are my favorite.
