    Kosoo Korean in Vancouver's West End. This trendy restaurant opened last April is barely a year old. It serves a mix of modern Korean, Japanese and French fusion style dish. Their Owner / Chef Han comes with a repertoire from Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Le cordon Bleu Signatures, and Provence Marinaside. If you are wondering where Kosoo is; it is located on 832 Cardero Street nearby Robson Public Market. Kosoo draws from tradition fermented sauces such as Gochujang (chili paste) and Denjang (soybean paste, similar to Miso) with modern execution.

    Tonight's tasting includes an array of dishes off the menu which we are hosting a contest for a Valentine's Day Dinner for Two -- details below.

    Mushroom Salad: Sauteed mushrooms with balsamic reduction, feta cheese crumbles over a bed of fresh greens. It's a nice warm option to the usual cold appetizers.

    Beef Tartare 15: Beef tenderloin with Korean pear, sweet soy and homemade spicy sauce, tako wasa and quail egg. The beef is tender and very flavorful. Tako Wasa gives it a nice kick in brightness.

    Kosoo Taco 6: 2 pieces of beef taco with spicy sauce, white onion and French tortilla. We liked the burst of residual heat. Imagine if there was a hard shell taco version in the future?

    24hrs Pork Belly 12: 24 hours miso marinated pork belly, fresh honey butter sweet corn with white onion and jalapeno. There is a good fat - lean meat ratio that melts in your mouth.

    Bocconcini Wrap 6: Why is it called a wrap? Bocconcini cheese is wrapped with prosciutto and tomato and served in a Korean kimchi purée. Robust flavors and quite savory.

    Beef Galbi 19: Braised beef short rib with root vegetable and gnocchi. The beef short ribs is by far our favourite item on the menu. The tender and flavourful galbi is delicious. Can I order a dish of the galbi alone?

      The tuna tartare looks amazinnngg! This would be such a fun experience. My bf and I have been gotten too comfortable with eating whatever is convenient and would love a chance to try out this fancy meal!
