Kam Wah Cafe Hong Kong 金華冰廳 is a famous Hong Kong Cafe located on Bute Street and very close to the Prince Edward MTR station. This place is famous for having the best pineapple bun and egg tarts. It is constantly jammed action pack with locals and tourists. You are expected to share tables and be patient. Service is minimal, if not rude. You better drink and eat you food fast, because they will take your half finished milk tea away or question why you are eating so slow!
They were featured in numerous news articles and food magazines.
Pineapple Bun with Butter: The buns are served ripping hot and the slab of cold butter starts to melt in front of your eyes. The crust is flaky, a bit crunchy and sweet. The bun itself is a bit yeasty. You may want to press down with your fork on top of your bun before eating. Compact the bun so the crumbs don't fall everywhere.
Ice Lemon Tea and Milk Tea: The beverage here is average and is not the highlight of the restaurant. Not too bad, not so good. Just drink quickly, else you may not have a chance to finish it.
Egg Tarts: These babies has a flaky crust which is the type I prefer. The filling is firm but creamy with a semi-sweet desire. To be honest, I think egg tart at Hoover Cake Shop 豪華餅店 over at Kownloon City is way better.
