Sweet Bake Shop Vancouver Yaletown is a boutique bakery by local female entrepreneur Tessa Sam. Sweet Bake Shop started from her home kitchen in 2010. Girlie and whimsical sugar cookies soon captured the hearts of many Instagram followers; mine included. I’m so thrilled that this pink […]
How can one visit San Francisco and not take a trip down to Napa Valley? Any how can one go to Napa Valley and not visit Yountville? Afterall, this is where Thomas Keller’s famous restaurant The French Laundry, Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery, and Ad Hoc are located. Each within steps of one another.
Napa Valley is a gorgeous place much like Summerland, Okanagan, BC. The autumn crisp air and changing colored leaves are dreamy. It makes having an almond croissant and a coffee outside on the patio that much more enjoyable!
Bouchon Bakery in Napa Valley Yountville is in the heart of California. This bakery started as a production facility to produce bread and pastries to Thomas Keller’s restaurants. It soon became a standalone French Style Bakery!
It produces some extraordinary confections: bread, baguettes, croissants, macarons, tarts, chocolate delicacies. I am seriously considering moving to Yountville!
Have a seat in the garden patio next to Bouchon after deciding on what tasty treat to indulge in.
As Pierre Herme would have it, you “should hear the croissant suffer!” The almond cream had grainy bits. It is perfect for texture. The croissant was semi-sweet and was incredibly fragrant! I will have to get more for the road trip home!
Macarons: Pistachio (left) and Lemon (right). These giant medallion sized macarons were much bigger than ones you would find at Ladurée, Thierry or any Thomas Haas. Not only were these twice the size, the skin was still smooth and cracked like an egg shell. The lemon was my favorite! Made with lemon curd and filled with buttercream. It has a bright, sweet-tart finishing. No artificial flavoring. The Pistachio was more subtle yet equally fragrant.

I’ve sampled Kitchening with Carly Wintchels macarons awhile back, but had put the pictures away in a vault much like some of her macarons. I ordered my sample online and had them hand delivered. It was during a special promotion for free deliveries, otherwise it is […]

Mosquito Desserts & Champagne is one of my favorite locations for desserts in Vancouver. It is located on 32 Water Street in Gastown. The restaurant is elegant and chic. It makes for the perfect location for the best date night. Now that they have also introduced Afternoon […]
La Glace, je t’aime. What started as casual flirtation with a charming little ice cream cart has blossomed into serious dessert love as Vancouver hearts melt over the city’s newest ice cream parlour and salon de thé. “All things are better when shared […]

Temper Pastry West Vancouver is a chocolatier and patisserie in the Dundarave neighborhood. White marble, cement and wood frame this quaint European style cafe. Owner and Chef Steven Hodge grew up in the same neighborhood and studied at the California School of Culinary Arts, specializing in pastry and chocolate. His resume boasts Le Caprice Restaurant, Gordon Ramsay’s 3 Michelin star restaurant, Royal Hospital Road, Wolseley Restaurant, and along side renowned pastry chef Thomas Haas.
While the location is a tad far at times for us, it makes for a good drive and little getaway from the city. Aside from pastries, macarons and other baked goodies, Temper also offers a selection of savory sandwiches and soups. The perfect cute lunch spot!
Almond Croissant: Flaky, crunchy, soft and tender center of a double almond croissant pairs perfectly with a hot Americano.
Coconut Lime Tart: A good sweet to tart balance. Soft and creamy albeit the bottom crust was too hard.
