    Olive et Gourmando Old Montreal

Olive et Gourmando Old Montreal Sandwich Healthy Salads Pastries Instanomss Nomss Food Travel Lifestyle Canada

Olive et Gourmando Montreal is a quick easy soup and sandwich cafe in Old Montreal near Le Westin Hotel. There are long line ups for take out. Table service is quick with plenty of bar counter seats.

Last time we were in Montreal, we had no itinerary, no "Must Eat List", and no "10 Things to do in Montreal" plan. This time, I find myself combing thru TripAdvisor and Yelp, geo-tagging every restaurant, cafe and little boutique. Perhaps, it comes with age. Perhaps, occupational hazard. I'm always trying to find the next best thing. Yet, I always go back to comfort. It's like having 20 pairs of shoes but always wearing the two.

It is the last morning before our flight back to Vancouver. God, I miss my own bed and the mild temperatures. I really don't understand how East Coasters / Montrealers brave their winters. My skin barely survived the brash wind and dehydration. Thank goodness for Laneige Water Sleeping pack, Aesop cleansers and my last minute decision to pack my Aritzia Blanket Scarf.

For a quick tasty meal, we ordered a salad and panini sandwich to share. Had we not went to Cafe Myriade in the morning, I'd probably order another Cappuccino. To be two cups deep before noon while on vacation seems a bit atrocious. I'll save that for the office tomorrow.

Chicken Salad: daily special salad was the chicken salad with couscous, fennel, celery, apples, roasted almonds and lemon mayo dressing. Crunchy, tart, and refreshing. I must recreate this at home!

The Cubain Panini Sandwich: panchetta, roasted pork, Gruyere cheese, lime, cilantro, chipotle and pickled mayonnaise. Hearty. Cheesy. It wasn't mind blowing but rather home comfort. Not too crazy pre-flight. I think fellow travellers can appreciate us not ordering a burrito.

If you are not in a pinch for time, wander in Old Montreal. Vieux Montréal city is very charming. So much character and plenty of old architectures, restaurants and Notre Dame Basilique.
