La Mezcaleria Gastown | Mezcal Bar Vancouver Traditional Mexican Food

La Mezcaleria Gastown Mezcal Bar Vancouver Traditional Mexican Food Instanomss Nomss Delicious Food Photography Healthy Travel Lifestyle Canada

La Mezcaleria took over Nicli's Next Door in Gastown at 68 East Cordova. Expanding from their Commercial Drive location, the menu will expand to allow more family style and a mezcal bar.

The space itself is gorgeous - exposed brick and high ceilings. To bring the ceiling down a notch (while maintaining that airy atmosphere), owners Marcelo Ramirez and Ignacio Arrieta brought back these Mexican star light fixtures. They are so charming!

Ceviche: Cured seasonal fish, lime, tomato, onion, jalapeno and cilantro. Served with chips.

Falutas de Papa: Potatoe stuffed fried tacos with guacamole. It's like eating avocado spring rolls! These fun snacks goes great with beer or a glass of Terravista Fandango.

De Res: Beef tenderloin seared rare, sesame vinaigrette, watercress, carrot, radish and serrano peppers. So tender and buttery.

De Betabel: charbroiled beets sliced very thin, orange oil, watercress, orange segments and candied pecans. A lovely salad with a nice acidic punch.

Airhorn cocktail: This tropical and bubbly cocktail is fun with sparkling rum, cava, pineapple, lime and honey.

Queso Fundido: This signature molten cheese fondue is my all time favorite! Piping hot melted cheese served in a volcanic stone bowl.

    How to eat "molcajete".

    • Add some Asada con Chorizo (roasted tomato salsa with ground Mexican chorizo) in it!
    • Stir it around.
    • Dip your chips in it.

Rib Eye al Carbon: 16 oz. bone in cowboy cut with roasted onion and salsa cruda. This steak is juicy and savory. I love the charred pieces that is served on a hot plate! It goes really well with a glass of Alta Alella Garnatxa Organic red wine or even an Andeluna Cellars 1300 Malbec.

They have this cream of corn side dish with a touch of lime that is so delicious! You have to get it!

Pescado Frito: Deep fried ocean perch (Pacific rockfish) with lime is served with Maldon sea salt and chipotle mayo. There are lots of meat for sharing. I could just order this and would be very happy.

Trio of Authentic Mexican Desserts: Corn Bread, Flan and Sweet Tamales. Best served with a smooth Mezcal Enmascarado.
