Zest Japanese Cuisine Vancouver | Casual Fine Dining Restaurant

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13714″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Zest Japanese Cuisine Vancouver is a casual fine dining Japanese restaurant near UBC. The restaurant Owner/Chef Yoshiaki Maniwa has won Best Upscale Japanese 2014 award by Vancouver Magazine. We first tried Zest Japanese Cuisine on my birthday last year. It seems that we usually come back for birthdays. This time was for my BFF’s.

If you had read our post previously, then you probably have an idea what they serve or that Zest is a sister restaurant to ShuRaku Sake Bar in Vancouver downtown. My experience at Zest this time was a bit different given that my friend doesn’t eat raw sashimi. We had to pick off the cooked food menu.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13707″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][image_with_animation image_url=”13709″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][image_with_animation image_url=”13710″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Daily Special – Tempura Soba Crab Meat Sushi. Beautifully presented sushi roll made from soba noodles and imitation crab meat. I love the crunchy texture and the presentation is on point![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13695″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][image_with_animation image_url=”13696″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Crispy Calamari Salad 13: Panko crusted sashimi grade surume squid, grapefruits salad, roasted pine nuts, soy & maple vinaigrette, yuzu aioli. A nice refreshing salad with lots of grapefruit meat. This is a good sized salad with lots of breaded calamari.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_raw_html]JTNDYSUyMGhyZWYlM0QlMjJodHRwJTNBJTJGJTJGd3d3LmFucmRvZXpycy5uZXQlMkZjbGljay03NTY1NDA0LTEyMTc1NjY5LTE0MjgwOTk0MTEwMDAlMjIlMjB0YXJnZXQlM0QlMjJfdG9wJTIyJTNFJTBBJTNDaW1nJTIwc3JjJTNEJTIyaHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5mdGpjZnguY29tJTJGaW1hZ2UtNzU2NTQwNC0xMjE3NTY2OS0xNDI4MDk5NDExMDAwJTIyJTIwd2lkdGglM0QlMjI3MjglMjIlMjBoZWlnaHQlM0QlMjI5MCUyMiUyMGFsdCUzRCUyMiUyMiUyMGJvcmRlciUzRCUyMjAlMjIlMkYlM0UlM0MlMkZhJTNF[/vc_raw_html][divider line_type=”No Line”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13699″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][image_with_animation image_url=”13698″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Fluffy Chili Tiger Prawn 13: Beer battered deep fried ebi mayo and served with organic greens, house made chili sauce and yuzu aioli sauce. I didn’t like the heavy batter which was too soft and not crispy enough. This took away from the otherwise meaty and fresh prawns.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13700″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Grilled BC Wild Sable Fish Yuan Zuke 19: 20 hrs marinated, yuzu juice, sautéed kale, carly beets, Togarashi chick pea. Just as delicious as I remembered it. The shredded beets are sweet and partially cooked kale soaks up all the sauce. Very rarely can you cook a sable fish wrong. It is so creamy and flakey.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13701″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Raw Sashimi Nigiri: I couldn’t help myself to order some Botan Amaebi and Hotate Scallops. Both were incredibly sweet and fresh.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”13705″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][image_with_animation image_url=”13706″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Matcha tiramisu: A semi sweet dessert that is light and creamy. Sprinkled with shaved white chocolate bits.

Hojicha Tea Infused Creme Brulee: A crunchy sugar caramel top with a rich custard base.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Overall Zest Japanese Cuisine fairly tasty. I wouldn’t exactly recommend this Japanese restaurant if you do not eat raw sashimi. Their menu leans heavily towards Omakase Sashimi, Carpaccio and other daily catch. I feel you will be missing out and limit your choices.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_raw_html]JTNDYSUyMGhyZWYlM0QlMjJodHRwcyUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy56b21hdG8uY29tJTJGdmFuY291dmVyJTJGemVzdC1raXRzaWxhbm8tdmFuY291dmVyJTIyJTIwdGFyZ2V0JTNEJTIyX2JsYW5rJTIyJTNFJTNDaW1nJTIwYWx0JTNEJTIyQ2xpY2slMjB0byUyMGFkZCUyMGElMjBibG9nJTIwcG9zdCUyMGZvciUyMFplc3QlMjBvbiUyMFpvbWF0byUyMiUyMHNyYyUzRCUyMmh0dHBzJTNBJTJGJTJGd3d3LnpvbWF0by5jb20lMkZsb2dvJTJGMTY2MTg3NDAlMkZtaW5pbG9nbyUyMiUyMHN0eWxlJTNEJTIyYm9yZGVyJTNBbm9uZSUzQndpZHRoJTNBMTA0cHglM0JoZWlnaHQlM0ExNXB4JTNCcGFkZGluZyUzQTBweCUzQiUyMiUyMCUyRiUzRSUzQyUyRmElM0UlMjA=[/vc_raw_html][vc_column_text]Zest Japanese Cuisine
