Yellow Dog Brewing Co is one of the microbreweries in thePort Moody (Tri-Cities). Across the street is Rocky Point Park. Next to it is Twin Sails Brewing and Parkside Brewery. Port Moody really is the place to be. This area is finally growing up with local beer, food trucks and a common hangout area for adults. This strip on Murray Street is now hip yet still very family friendly. At the park you can still order fish n chips, ice cream cones at Rocky Point Ice Cream, kayaking and green grass to play on.
Yellow Dog is named after owner Melinda and Mike Coghill’s beloved yellow Lab – you won’t miss the giant poster child when you walk into the industrial park brewery. I love the fun names they’ve named their beer after: Take a Walk Wit, Chase My Tail Pale Ale, Stick Toss Saison, Play Dead IPA and their award wining Shake a Paw Smoked Brown Porter.
There isn’t a lot of seating inside the tasting room however there are picnice tables in the back. It’s like hanging out in your own back yard.
Yellow Dog Brewery offers a variety of selection both on tap and for growlers to go. There are conventional brews and seasonal flavor blends. My favorite stays true to their Sour Gose and the Apricot Saison. The Sour Gose promises refreshing tastes with bold flavors. The tartness is more vibrant and sharp. It goes so well with a bag of Hardbite Jalapeno chips!
Do like that PoMo dad’s do – Pick up the kids and pups from daycare. Make a bee-line to the brewery. Bring the beers to the back and let them continue on with playtime. And when the kids gets bored, take them across the street to the park to play ball. We promise we won’t tell that’s beer in your Swell bottle! (it keeps cold for 12 hours and has a 1L capacity!)
