The Eatery, Vancouver (Kitsilano)

THE EATERY KITSILANO

The Eatery, a place for fusion sushi, beer and hanging out with friends. We came here during my UBC days and still come back occasionally for the same reasons and perhaps for some nostalgia.

The place always reminds me of having a bad hallucination with really loud music. And if my date took me home to flying dragons, neon unicorns and octopus I would get the eff out of there ASAP.

My dark psychedelic, idiosyncratic trip down the rabbit hole wasn’t all bad. The Eatery has some pretty decent rolls. My favorite is their Captain Crunch roll (deep fried Cali with unagi mayo). Their platters are reasonably priced. I love the Ring of Fire 40 for 5 rolls: Captain Crunch, Viva Las Vegas, Tataki Attack, Energy Roll, Erotica Roll, Dragon Roll.

Wings are 35 cents each and the Hot Hot Hot is spicy and garlicky unlike your typical tobacco glazed one way suicide.

What disappoints me most is their lack of service or the fact my waitress was suppose to bring me change for $5 and instead a comes back with $2.75 and asks if this is ok because she doesn’t have enough on her (otherwise she would have to ask the other servers. God forbids. *Gasp*). Sorry Honey! Tips are to be earned not shortchanged.
