Snowy Village Dessert Cafe | Korean Bingsoo Shaved Ice

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”17765″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Snowy Village Dessert Cafe is the hottest dessert craze in Vancouver / Richmond lately. Snowy Village is best known for their Korean shaved ice desserts with a creamy, milky consistency. Korean bingsoo / bingsu 인절미 빙수 is made with milk ice sorbet. Milk ice sorbet has a softer, smoother texture than water and ice. So it is creamier and smoother!

Long lines – cold, rain nor shine will stop people especially during peak hours. Put your name down and wait in line. There is also an option to leave your phone number and they will call you when it is your turn.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”17764″ animation=”Fade In” img_link_target=”_self”][vc_column_text]

Snow Ice Bingsoo are $12 for a large and $80-$10 for a regular size. Soy milk is also available for +$1. They also have a big assorted fruit bingsoo for $25. A good option if you want to share between a few people.

Matcha Green Tea Bingsoo: Matcha green tea powder with Korean rice cakes, red bean, green tea cake, and almonds. I like the creaminess and milkiness for the shaved ice itself. It is different than pure ice shavings. It has a good mouth feel as it melts quickly in your mouth. I also really enjoyed that the metal bowls itself is also frozen to keep the bingsoo cold!

Injeolmi Bingsoo: Injeolmi is a high quality tteok aka Korean glutinous rice cakes. Korean glutinous rice cakes are coated with roasted soybean powder. It has lots mochi and sweetened red bean. The perfect Korean milk ice dessert!

The fish cake casing is made with a croissant pastry instead of the common flour batter. Filled with your choice of a few flavors. We ordered the Ingeolmi Redbead which is melting rice cake with red azuki beans. Chewy and not too sweet.

Taiyaki Flavors

  • Red Bean
  • Ingeolmi Redbean
  • Custard Cream
  • Sweet Potato
  • Nutella

I would imagine waiting in line over an hour in the pouring rain / cold or simply waiting takes away from the whole experience. Give it another month, I’m sure there will be another “Snowy City” opening soon.
