Acclaimed locavore chef David Gunawan and his team at Farmer’s Apprentice are taking a page out of their mothers’ cookbooks and serving up a homespun feast in honour of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14.

Maintaining Gunawan’s signature philosophy of using exclusively organic, local and sustainably-sourced ingredients, the Farmer’s Apprentice Mother’s Day menu draws inspiration from the team’s own childhood favourites.

Makes Mother’s Day sweet this year by playing host to a special brunch service in its warm and inviting dining room on Sunday, May 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In addition to its regular dinner service that evening, The Salted Vine’s brunch service will feature a lineup of Pacific Northwest-inspired fare by Chef and Co-owner Jeff Park, while Bar Manager Dave Warren will serve up cocktail specials including Aperol Spritzes and Mimosas.

Brunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m: Executive Chef Alex Chen and his talented team will present a sumptuous three-course brunch for $65 per person that features appetizers like Clam Chowder (smoked black cod, Yukon gold potato, dill and fennel pollen) and Green and White Asparagus Salad (crispy duck egg, grainy mustard dressing, marcona almond, herb emulsion smoked ikura) and mains such as Crab and Avocado or Canadian Bacon Benedict (free-range eggs, spiced potatoes, brown-butter hollandaise), Roasted Ling Cod (Chiang Mai sausage, stewed peppers, clams, Thai basil ‘pesto’) and Mom’s Best Sunday Roast (slow-cooked prime striploin, Yorkshire pudding, pomme purée, roasted mushrooms, horseradish emulsion, bone marrow jus).

Dinner 5 to 11 p.m: Boulevard will offer a gourmet three-course dinner for $65 per person that features starters such as Slow Poached West Coast Oysters (meyer lemon, northern divine caviar, horseradish mayonnaise) and Beef Carpaccio (Snake River Farms wagyu, capers, parmesan, sourdough crisp, sauce gribiche, herb salad) and main courses like Linguine Alle Vongole (local clams, basil, Fresno chile, D.O.P. San Marzano tomato), Red Wine Braised Pork Cheeks (roasted garlic polenta, spring vegetable ragout, parsley) and Maple Hill Farms ‘Duck a l’Orange’ (dry aged, cumin scented carrots, wild rice, orange jus).

Each service also features dessert-course selections that include either a Chocolate Tart (passion fruit and coconut mousse, piña colada sorbet) or strawberry fromage blanc Cheesecake with cookie crumble during brunch service or Cheesecake with cheese mousse, crumble and strawberry curd following dinner service.
