Mosquito Gastown Vancouver is a new dessert and champagne lounge. Mosquito is an upscale, sexy restaurant dedicated to desserts, cocktails and charcuterie. Mosquito is located where the old Oak + Fort location is just outside of Blood Alley. We think owners Alice Wu and Johan Friedrich has a really great concept to offering dessert outside of chocolate lava cake. Mosquito is a perfect date night spot with its dark and sophisticated atmosphere designed by Ste. Marie Art + Design (see Homer St. Cafe, Meat & Bread, Ask for Luigi, Revolver).

Dessert Tapas are available between 5pm to 8pm for $6 each or 3 for $15. Perfect for that mid-afternoon pick me up! Tasty desserts are made by pastry chef Julianne Hansen who previously worked at Cadeaux Bakery.

Olive oil and Lemon Madeleine: Freshly baked to order. These baby Madeleines are the definition of warm and fuzzy.  Sponge is ever so subtly sweet with a moist center and dusted with confectioners sugar. After Happy Hour, the Lemon Madeleine is served with olive oil bavarois, sponge, elderflower syrup, and dehydrated grapefruit.

Pistachio Ice Cream: Pistachio genoa sponge, caramelized puff pastry, white chocolate and lemon yoghurt mousseline with pomegranate pearls. Earthy, nutty fragrance balanced with bright acidic citrus caviar. Genoise cake is a very light and delicate.

Frozen Coconut Snowball: Coconut ice cream with slow roasted passion fruit and shiso. Reminds me of Raffaello chocolate.

Macarons: New to the menu since Wednesday and are simply divine. On the table are Coconut and Lavender and Oolong tea and milk chocolate. We highly recommend the Coconut and Lavender macaron. Subtly distinctive flavors you can taste. At first bite, it is hard to taste the lavender. After a few seconds, you will start to notice the fragrance and the lavender aroma starts to seep in.

Mosquito Macaron Flavors Available

  • Valrhona dark chocolate
  • Coconut and lavender
  • Red fruits and tonka bean
  • Maple caramel and vanilla
  • Olive oil and rosemary
  • Oolong tea and milk chocolate
  • Roses and lychee

We will be back again to Mosquito as I am sure their menus changes seasonally. This sexy lounge is romantic. It is a great date spot to charm your lady. I’m always game for dessert first!
