  • 2 tsp Ceremonial Matcha Powder, sifted
  • 100ml Hot Water (175°F /80°C)
  • 2 bottles Yakult (80ml)
  • 1.2C Ice Cubes
  • 1 Wedge Fresh Lemon, juiced

  1. Sift 1-2 teaspoon of matcha powder into a bowl to remove any clumps. Sifting is a crucial step for achieving that velvety texture.
  2. Pour 100ml of hot water (about 175°F or 80°C) into the bowl with the matcha powder.
  3. 175°F (80°C) is the perfect matcha brewing temperature. This temperature is ideal because it allows the matcha powder to dissolve properly without scorching it, which can result in a bitter taste. Boiling water at 212°F or 100°C is too hot and can destroy the delicate flavors and nutrients in matcha, so it’s important to let the water cool slightly before using it.
  4. Use your matcha whisk to vigorously whisk in a "W" or "M" motion to mix the matcha and water until it forms a smooth, frothy paste. Set aside.
  5. Fill the serving glass with ice cubes.
  6. Add two bottles of Yakult to the glass.
  7. Pour the whisked matcha into a glass filled with ice and Yakult.
  8. Squeeze a wedge of fresh lemon juice into the glass. Stir to combine.
  9. Taste the matcha Yakult drink and adjust the sweetness if needed. Add a drizzle of honey or simple syrup for extra sweetness.
