Maple Grill Bistro is one of the best kosher restaurants in Vancouver. This is what I am told. I haven’t been to a kosher restaurant and did not know what to expect. We came here for a dear friend’s wedding reception. The interior is intimate with modern decoration. The service was attentive and the food was delicious.
What does a Kosher Kitchen / Kosher Restaurant mean?
Kosher means to keep all cooking utensils and food preparation surfaces are used exclusively for kosher food. Separating dishes, stoves, pots, cutlery, counter surfaces, etc. used for meat and dairy.
A color scheme can be helpful ie. Meat = red, Dairy = blue, Parve = green. Some kosher kitchen have two sides – one for meat, one for dairy.
Kosher Symbols listed below can help identify that “food has been inspected by one of the many kosher certifying agencies…”
We started the evening with hummus and pickles and olives. The hummus with toasted sesame seeds, olive oil and was served with warm bread. Next a fresh salad with light vinaigrette was served.
Grilled Chicken Breast: a juicy grilled chicken with Cajun rub was presented with a side of garden vegetables, mash potatoes and a guacamole-sundried tomato smokey aioli barbecue sauce.
Chocolate Lava Cake: a warm chocolate lava cake with a lightly crunchy exterior and moist center. The cakes was really delicious.
Maple Grill Bistro has a great variety on their menu of comfort food, steak house and traditional Jewish dishes. There are plenty of street parking on West Broadway.
