Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless Earbud Headphones are pretty rad. They have this in ear heart rate monitor that tracks your workout, distance and training zones. Paired with the Jabra Sports Life app on your smart phone, you will never miss a beat achieving those fitness goals!
It’s true! You are one step closer if you just get up and go rather than stuffing your face with potato chips while sitting on the couch. I try to workout at least two to three times a week (schedule permitting). But I still struggle every time! I read motivational quotes and see epic earth moving photos and wish I was more spontaneous and adventurous (and ultimately had more time). Truth be told, like many of you, I also battle body dysmorphia and wish I could sleep of calories as I did in my 20s. But I’m thankful for the little changes that pushes me to sweat just a little more.
Similar to the Fitbit Charge HR fitness watch, Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless earphones are perfect for that extra motivation. If you can afford to spend the money, these $200 bluetooth wireless headphones are definitely worth the splurge. They are one of the best bluetooth wireless headphones for sports and running. I can foresee myself using these for a very long time.
Design and Comfort
Prior to going wireless, it is a war trying to tuck the extra long cords away from my arm-band and neck. Too often it gets caught up while running and my phone would nose dive onto the floor / treadmill. The Jabra Sport Pulse is minimal.
The beauty is in the short, tangle free cord that is still long enough to lie behind your neck. There is also a small clip to keep the cord from moving around. I rarely have to readjust it while running or biking. The cord has an inline remote with standard functions built in: volume control, music control and lets you skips tracks, call function and voice recognition for Siri – keep it as hands free as possible.
The earbuds themselves looks chunky but is actually quite comfortable. It comes with different sizes of ear hooks to fit different ears. I kept the factory defaults and the headphones never fell off during a workout. It is a satisfying security. I do not have to adjust it every 5 seconds. What a nuisance it is to stay/get in the zone! Fidgeting just get the proper fit makes me so frustrated. I’m so glad I don’t need to anymore.
The earbuds themselves are water resistant. Heart rate monitor on the left and micro USB charging port tucked on the right. I was told if it is not properly positioned inside your inner ear then it won’t track your heart rate. I didn’t have a problem with this.
How Does In Ear Heart Rate Monitor Work?
Jabra uses an optomechnical sensor which light shines against the skin of your inner ear. This detects your pulse and oxygen consumption. It then measures the reading and transmit it to your smart phone. The heart rate measured compared to my FitBit Charge HR it is almost identical. Jabra claims its accuracy close to the ECG machines used in hospitals.
Sound and Frequency
Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless earbuds connects wirelessly from up to 30 feet away. I have left it in my gym bag, walked back and forth between weights and the treadmill and am still flawlessly connect to my Spotify playlist with clear Dolby sound.
The base is deep and trebles chirps with clarity up to approximately 5.0 hours of battery life (the Jabra Sport Wireless boasts up to 8 hours. )Speaker frequency ranges 20 Hz – 20 kHz. It doesn’t distort easily.
Noise cancellation: These are perfect to zone out from people chattering at the gym. Plus others won’t hear what music you are listening to. Be sure there is no sound leak. Go ahead and put on that embarrassing song you listen to at the gym!
Tracking Your Workout
If you are an avid runner and like to map your workouts outside, all you need is to use your phone’s GPS signal. A voice prompt will signal the start of your workout, distance, split pace and heart rate detected.
I compared the Jabra Sport Pulse to the Fitbit Charge HR, the distance tracked were close although not 100 percent identical. For my training purposes, it will suffice. I always welcome that 5km mark; however 0.5 km difference seems awfully huge. Unfortunately, there isn’t anywhere to calibrate in the app. I wonder how this fares toward the Polar A360.
