This weekend we enjoyed an inspiring filled weekend at the Interior Design Show West 2014 Vancouver Convention Center. While fashionistas flooded Paris Fashion Week with Chloe lace dress and lace up sandals, grey monochromatic hue houndstooth, checks, and stripes, IDSWest2014 showcased Livingspace Design Stage, Monogram® Dinner by Design, The District Etsy marketplace for designers to show and sell. Unlike last year at IDSWest2013, we can finally adapt cool ideas from the show and mirror it at our new home. For starters, the cheeky neon lights Endeavour Neon has really caught my attention. Question is, which piece best suits the master bedroom?!
Along Came The Fold: Origami for the home is based in Vancouver. Sara makes paper products for the home including stationary and gifts to lamp design. All this inspired from her upbringing in Japan and her background in art school.
Gamla Studio: Contemporary design studio handcrafting sophisticated furniture and conceptual objects from a small scale manufacturing studio in East Vancouver. Inspired by Gimli, Brent and Robin’s Welsh Terrier, you pup too can live in style. I’m already eyeing this dual-use designer dog den and carrier starting from $795 CAD. Powder-coated aluminum mesh walls encased in sustainably-harvested black walnut with solid brass and leather details. Traveller Den can also be custom made for larger breeds. Sizes comes in small, medium, large, and XL.
GRAY design magazine for the Pacific Northwest, is a media sponsor of IDSwest. Take to the GRAY Conversation Stage highlights conversation and dynamic discussions with creative thinkers and provide a more intimate face-to-face experience for both trade and design enthusiasts.
Monogram®Dinner by Design
A collection of lavish, romantic and clean whimsical dining environments designed my international and local designers.
The Modern Scarlet: Created by Debut Event Design. What would a dinner party hosted by Scarlett O’Hara look like in 2014? Lush. Romantic. Dark. Sexy. Personally it was a bit heavy for me. We even saw a few girls posing as The Ring.
Joie De Vivre: Created by Design LaB Interiors. Can classic elegance and modern structure dine together? We think it can. I love the gold and dark contrast for that added elegance and glamor.
Camp Marrimor: Created by Marrimor. Nature and refinement. Grateful for the ample supply of raw materials in the West Coast. Isn’t this hanging basket awesome?
Light and Shadow: Created by FNDA Architecture Inc. Composition of light and shadow. All white everything and clean lines. This would make a great patio wedding dinner in the summer!
Table Talk: Created by Sophie Burke Design. Table Talk is about creating an inviting, sociable space for gathering. I love the bench with soft shades of grey cushions. That wooden chair is everything. I think will copy this for our home.
And Everything Was Stil… Created by Robert Blaney Design Inc. Call it global warming or a catastrophic event that led to the extinction of many and most of Earths inhabitants. Gosh, but a depressing story for this table setting. This hot mess reminded me of Halloween or someone forgot to purchase table clothes.
Romancing Harry: Created by The Cross Décor and Design. I fall in love with The Cross everyday. Inspired by the iconic Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy. This tablescape of soft romance, bubbly cocktails and whispers of sweet nothings has me weak in my knees.
Pandora’s Box: Created by Filosophi Event Design. Inspired by the classic Greek myth of man’s battle with temptation and curiosity.
Wailua: Created by Angela Robinson Interior Design. Inspired by Wailua Fern Grotto located on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. White folded paper represents the jagged rock enclosure with luxuriant ferns descending above.
L’eautus: Created by Greenscape Design & Decor. This animated tablescape was drawn from Vancouver’s West Coast rain forest environment.
Montauk Sofa: blend yourself in plaid.
