Hawkers Delight Vancouver is a hole in the wall Malaysian restaurant on Main Street. Barely 200 sqft, this dated kitchen serves up authentic Singaporean, authentic Malaysian cuisine in Vancouver. Popular dishes include Nasi Goreng, Laksa Noodles, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Roti, etc. The prices are dirty cheap around $5 to $6 with generous portions. Seats are not very comfortable and on a hot summer’s day, you are better off ordering take out. If you are looking for more comfortable seating arrangements than Penang Delight Cafe would be your better bet.
Dried Noodle | Mee Pok Been Hoon: Served on a bed of warm dry egg noodles, bean sprouts, veggies, and minced pork.
Laksa: A slight sweet and not very spicy version of Laksa curry noodles. Flavors seems toned down compared to Bo Laksa King on Hastings. Served with tofu puffs, hard boil egg, and minced pork in coconut curry broth.
Roti Canai: This roti was flat and starchy. I didn’t really like this Malaysian pastry pancake much. I think the best roti canai in Vancouver is at Bo Laksa King or Penang Delight. The dipping sauce here was water thin and didn’t have the rich flavors of coconut cream, cloves or star anise.
