Fu Hang Dou Jiang Taiwan 阜杭豆漿 is another 'best breakfast in Taiwan" places aside from 永和豆漿大王 Yong He Dou Jang Da Wang (which is also kiddie corner from this building). They have done an impressive job of attracting loyal foodies to queue long lines just for a bite of their infamous shao bing (flatbread breakfast sandwiches). We arrived early 7am and already the placed was filled with people. All other stores in this building were still closed and/or staring with envy. Remember to come early because this place closes at 10am.

When we arrived at Fu Hang Dou Jiang Taiwan, we thought the lines weren't too bad. Mistake. Apparently we entered from the other end and the line wraps around down the stairs to the street level and around the building.

Because line ups are so crazy, Fu Hang even provided a guide on how to line up.

Line ups can be boring. In order to keep patrons engaged and waiting, Fu Hang Dou Jiang Taiwan has provided some visuals on their production line. How they make their delicious shao bings, soy milk and fried Chinese donuts since 1958. Non-stop these chefs pour out batches of hot tranditonal Ninjing goodies: roasted flatbreads shao bing 燒餅 and fried Chinese donuts 油條 you tiao.

This place goes thru crates of eggs daily and people buys their breakfast by the box. No wonder there is such a long line up. This is a good sign that the food is really good.

Thick shao bing with egg 厚燒餅蛋加油條: Fu Hang is most famous for their thick flatbeard with egg 厚燒餅蛋加油條. The flatbread has been roasted to a fluffy, crunchy top and chewy center, added sesame for flavour. Lightly glazed with sugar on top. Inside is a pieace of you tiao and fried egg with scallions. 55NT is not only cheap but very satisfying.

Sticky Glutinous Rice Roll with Chinese donuts, shredded pork floss and preserved vegetables 糍飯糰: A lot of rice and not enough filling in the middle. Tastes very similar to 永和豆漿大王 Yong He Dou Jang Da Wang but slightly more savory.

Salty Soy Milk Soup 鹹豆漿 25NT: Fresh soy milk that had curdled with vinegar and added with you tiao bites, persevered vegetables, cilantro, scallions and chili oil. This is something you must order here.

Brown Rice Drink 米漿: If you are a fan of soy milk, than you must try their rice drink. Sweetly flavoured, it tastes more like a dessert of sesame porridge. Added with peanuts, this is a drink you can not get enough of.

Fried radish cake 蘿蔔燒餅: Shredded radish filled center with a deep fried bun and sprinkled with sesame. This bun is so fragrant it's intoxicating. The soft savory center with radish melts in your mouth.
Fu Hang Dou Jiang Taiwan is definitely worth the wait, but I often wonder how people rushing to work can afford to stand in line for 30+ mins.
