Fayuca is a newly opened Mexican restaurant in Yaletown, Vancouver. It is located on 1009 Hamilton Street (replacing the old Hamilton St. Grill). Opened by Ernesto Gomez and Mexican chef Jair Tellez (Laja), this cantina menu focus on modern North Pacific Mexican cuisine in a casual and chic environment. The space is designed by Scott Cohen (Nuba, Les Faux Bourgeois).
Having missed the media launch party being super pregnant and all, it was nice to enjoy a delicious drink at the bar. They offer a strong bar program that includes cocktails, wine, ciders, beer and Mezcal.
We enjoyed a quiet afternoon on the patio before the lunch crowd rolled in. There are perks in being on Maternity Leave!
Four Winds Brewing - this liquid sunshine is like summer in a bottle. Deliciously brewed in reverence of the old world sour wheat ales of Berlin, this Berliner-style Weisse is light in body with a faint earthy mineral essence. Sour in nature and refreshingly effervescent.
Guacamole 12: Crispy Sunchokes, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, and Macedonian Feta.
Grilled Cactus and zucchini salad 13: avocado and citrus vinaigrette, mashed pinto beans and red grain rice. Option for queso fresco for $2.
Braised Beef Tongue Torta 12: spicy birria broth, pickled carrots and onions, avocado and queso fresco. The beef tongue was delicious and tender on its own.
