21 Nautical Miles Seafood Bar is newly opened Asian Fusion restaurant in Yaletown on 1257 Hamilton Street. It is at the quieter side of Yaletown (between Drake and Davie) near Rodney’s Oyster House and House Special. The seafood bar aims to be a contemporary Chinese restaurant.
If you remember, Glowbal’s Society Dining Lounge you will be able to draw the connection with the neon purple lights and high ceilings. The decor itself draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese dynasty era layered with some cuteness.
We were invited by ChineseBites along with few fellow bloggers for menu tasting at 21 Nautical Miles Seafood Bar.
21 Nautical Miles restaurant menu focus is fresh seafood. From Crab boil to A La Carte entrees.
- Black Pepper
- Spicy Szechuan
- Garlic Butter
Golden Fried Pepper Salt Calamari: Deep fried squid with salt and pepper. This is not spicy and fit for everyone.

House Spicy Spot Prawns: Flash fried spot prawns. However, this was not very spicy and missing some fragrant spices.

Skewers: There are 3 flavors available and reminds me a lot of the skewers available from the night market. The lamb and the beef is heavy with cumin spices. Chicken is marinated with satay and is tender and moist. Pork is braised for 48 hours.
- Lamb (cumin)
- Beef (cumin)
- Chicken (satay)
- Pork (48 hour braised)
Herbal Coconut Mussels: I liked the creamy coconut broth with juicy plump mussels. I do wish that there was some chilli oil and spicy to lift the profile. The side of bread garnished on the side did little for me. A side of garlic bread would have been appropriate.
Garlic Steamed Lobster Tail: Have you ever had lobster baked in cheese? This is quite popular in Hong Kong. The Lobster is succulent and fresh. The garlic sauce was delicious even though I tad strong and masked the natural sweetness of the lobster tail.
Abalone with House Special Sauce: Braised abalone in rich hoisin sauce. I wish for a light sauce to let the natural taste of abalone be the star.
Mango Thousand Layer Cake: This crepe cake is very delicious. The crepe layers are thin and soft with the right ratio of whipped cream and fresh mangos. Flown in directly from Taiwan.
