Over dinner at Westender on Friday, we talked about kitchen gadgets and the state of the art refrigerators that still can not remind us when my milk has gone bad. Who needs a $5000 fridge when you have the Milkmaid (designed Quirky and winner of The Quirky + GE Project innovation contest). Well, I still like that $5000 fridge. Ahem.
No need taking a whiff or second guessing if your milk has expired (yes, sometimes we can be that lazy to read expiry dates labels). The Milkmaid alerts you when your milk has gone sour and reminds you when to buy more. The quart size milk jug measures temperatures and pH levels that plugs into a smart base inside your fridge. All this info can be accessed via a free iPhone app. And if you are almost out of milk it will even send you a text message.
I can see potential benefits and becoming more useful for other kitchen gadgetry. But I fear we will lose our senses and rely of technology too much (if not already).
