I love this place because it doesn’t only serve your traditional lemon chicken or sweet and sour pork. Instead they serve up some really delicious seafood concoction and salt-baked chicken.

If holidays are coming up. Tis is the season to eat King Crab. Gorgeous. Giant. Alaskan. King Crab.

We initially thought of this idea when we saw the tank full of crabs at Deer Garden in Port Coquitlam.

Tonight we are here gathered with a few fellow food bloggers. The theme of the eat out was hash tagged #blindeating – kind of like #blinddating. Bit of a funny story since not everyone was become acquainted formally, it was kind of like a “speed dating eating” table. Eat as fast as you can and get to know the people as fast as you can… #jokes!

The beautiful king crab weighs 11 lbs and was presented for a photo-shoot upon arrival for inspection. The friendly staff helped stage the table for the food bloggers’ paparazzi.

Prepared 2 ways:

The fragrant of the rice wine brightens the fresh sweetness of the crab meat. Egg white coats it like a blanket and adds texture.

It is extremely delicate on the technique such that too much rice wine will be too strong and overpower the dish.

Remember to scoop extra egg white and rice wine onto the crab pieces!

Second to arrive is the minced garlic version.

Strong garlic flavours is pungent, but it does not lose the characteristic sweetness of crab.

 

You can also request fried rice to be made and served on the King Crab Shell. Some restaurants does it baked Portuguese style.

With all the left over sauces, you can option to have it serve up the essence with thick egg noodles.

What a interesting concept to deep fried spicy mushrooms. These array of spores is light and not greasy where oil is dripping.

Instead it is light, airy, and each mushroom is still able to retain is natural, woody, earthy sweetness.

Much like the Salty Duck Egg Yolk stir fried crab at Big Chef Restaurant 大可以飯店, Jade also has their own twist on giant prawns.

It is not as oily as one would presume, but this was definitely the heavier dish of the night.

Golden salted egg yolk covered pumpkin, prawns and edamame beans.
