The year 2012 is rushing to an end. How could the year end so fast. So much to be accomplished still. Since this is a food blog amongst other things, we thought we’d share with you 5 Cooking Resolutions – Kitchen Skills to Master (or Completely Butcher) Canning […]
Cookies, Pastry and Cakes are fun to eat but not always fun to make. And when you think of all the measuring cups, gadgets and mixers needed to sift, cup and weight, your pantry becomes a little overloaded.
To save space, the Beurer KS53 Mixing bowl & Kitchen Scale is intelligent. 2.5 Litres that has a built-in digital scale. This is a brilliant concept! Now I don’t have to hassle my brain cells to subtract the weight of the bowl off a regular flat surface scale. The easy to read LCD display shows you the weight of whatever ingredient you are weighing in 1 gram graduations – flour, oil, water, meat, etc. Just keep a couple AAA batts handy and you are set!
With removable mixing bowl:
Non-drip pouring lip
Capacity 2.5 l
Dishwasher-safe mixing bowl
Easy to read LCD display
Ingredients switchable: water, milk, oil, sugar and flour
Tare weighing function
Easy to clean
5 kg capacity
1 g graduation
Automatic switch-off function
I’ll go out and say right now, this is a brilliant idea. First of all, I practice the skill of cutting with my regular fork. I have the issue of using one hand to eat cause my other is occupied. It’s not even possible […]
We were recently approached by GLAD and their representing PR agency to try out the latest GLAD To Go Lunch Containters. Lunch boxes is nothing new, but I like the dressing cups that snaps into the lid. I always seem to forget to bring […]
Homewerx located in South Granville – Granville Street / 13th is a modern lifestyle store filled with home décor, small kitchen appliances and tools, gourmet foods and tea, glassware and little nick nacks. Before Homewerx opened on South Granville, honestly I didn’t know it existed on the West End on Davie Street. It wasn’t until I was shopping around the area for home décor and kitchen ware at William Sonoma that I discovered this place.
The brightly light minimalist and clean décor of well stocked shelves made shopping here a delight. I liked the open space and the concept of bedding, bath products and a bed display in the back of the store.
They even have a Chilewich studio in store!
Amongst other things, they also carry Beta 5 Chocolate, Urbanears, knits and other cool stuff! If you are too busy to physically go there, you can also shop online at http://www.homewerx.ca. Cautions – online shopping may be hazardous to your credit card’s health! I speak from experience. But I trust that you are more sensible than I am =)

William-Sonoma is one of my favourite stores to shop – both online and retail. Unfortunately there is only one located in Vancouver on Granville Street. But one is better than none. All-Clad, Le Creuset, KitchenAid, all sing to me like Alice+Olivia, Roland, and Nikon. […]
Life with a KitchenAid Artisan 5 Quart Stand Mixer is amazing. Some people say baking and cooking is very therapeutic. Others think it is stressful. Personally, I think it was only stressful when you bake and cook using the wrong equipment. Previously, I would used my mom’s old […]
After winning the KitchenAid 13-cup food processor to add to my KitchenAid craze and collection, this year for Christmas as part of my 3 part present, Dave got me this KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment for my KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer.
I wanted this gadget for some time now! I wanted to make my own homemade ice cream – flavours such as oolong tea, lychee, concord grapes sorbet etc. Now I can finally try this out… We actually tried making Oolong Tea Ice Cream tonight and it tasted delicious!
Anyone who already owns a Stand Mixer would definitely enjoy making their own ice cream and owes themselves to get the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment.
After unboxing, I found this design to be quite clever – plug and play.
- Freeze bowl (fits most models) and easily twists on like your mixing bowl
- Dasher, drive assembly, and bowl adapter snaps on and pretty much does not require a PHD to operate
- Powered by stand mixer, pour in batter, dash and freeze bowl to do the work
- Dishwasher-safe dasher, drive assembly, and bowl adapter.
- Freeze Bowl (NOT DISHWASHER SAFE – PLEASE HANDWASH!!!)
Some planning ahead is required as the bowl needs to be frozen for a minimum 15 hours and all frozen mixtures should be refrigerated 8 hours prior to use. Mix your own ice cream ingredients and combinations. In approximately 15 mins sorbet is ready and in approximately 25-30 mins ice-cream is served. Put in a container to freeze overnight to harden even more or simply enjoy some soft served! Bon Appetite!
You can always make ice cream by following some delicious recipes…
Did you know huge I am a big KitchenAid fan? Ever since I started baking and cooking, I used to used my mom’s old machinery which were heavy and didn’t quite do the job anymore. But I got to give it credit for lasting so long. It is […]
