Macau Paradise Restaurant 澳門樂園茶餐廳 is located in Kowloon City on Fuk Lo Tsun Road. It is near Tei Mou Koon 地茂館甜品 and Mini Bangkok 小曼谷泰國美食 九龍城. This Hong Kong style cafe probably isn’t the cheapest or the tastiest. Service is average as is the food quality.
Dave ordered a set meal with sausage instant noodles, fried eggs and toast. It comes with a hot milk tea for $40 HKD. The meal came quickly. Perfect if you are in a rush.
The only problem was, I wasn’t hungry. I only wanted a drink. A single cup milk tea alone is half the cost of a full meal. So the catch 22 problem exists: Do I order another full meal to get my dollars worth? Or sacrifice and pay for a cup of milk tea for $20 HKD?
But I wasn’t hungry. I paid $20 HKD.

If you are looking for a retro Starbucks Coffee in Hong Kong Central, it is on Duddell Street. The concept is similar to the retro vintage 1940’s Hong Kong style cafe in Mong Kong Sai Yee Street 旺角洗衣街. Starbucks Coffee on Duddell Street is the […]
Lucky Dessert Hong Kong 發記甜品 is one my friend highly recommended us to try. She told us to add this to our list of “to eat Hong Kong” because the Mango Pomelo Sago dessert is delicious. Plus they give you half a mango. That sounds pretty […]
Steamed Milk Pudding or Steamed Milk with Two Films 雙皮奶 shuang pi nai is one of the most popular Chinese dessert in Hong Kong. It is generally a steamed milk pudding 炖奶 dun nai. Other names may include steamed milk with egg white, steamed milk with ginger juice, double milk skin, double boiled steamed milk… or however you’d like to fathom the literally translation. Steamed Milk with Two Films is made of milk, egg white and sugar. It can be served hot or cold. I personally prefer hot steamed milk pudding. During our trip to Hong Kong, I was told Australia Dairy Company Hong Kong 澳洲牛奶公司 had the best shuang pi nai. But seeing how it was such a Hong Kong tourist attraction, I believe Yee Shun Dairy Company 港澳義順牛奶公司 is smoother.
For $25 HKD (approx $3 CAD), this was a steal to sit down and relax over some deliciously silky smooth pudding. Similar to a tofu pudding, Yee Shun Dairy Company HK Steamed Milk Puddings are creamier and has a sweetened milk fragrance. With eat bite, I hope that my skin will also be transformed to that of a new born’s. So I tried to recreate this at home with a simple steamed ginger milk custard recipe. Many things can go wrong and you will be easily disappointed. Often this milk won’t set properly or you will overcook the milk. With this step by step recipe, you will master the two step process of boiling and cooling down the milk.
Of course, like most Hong Kong Cafes, Yee Shun Dairy Company Hong Kong also offers cha chaan teng dishes like creamy egg and ham sandwich. Always toasted. Always no crust. Look at just how juicy this whole egg toast is!
Please let me know in the comments below if you know where the best steam milk pudding is in Hong Kong!! I would love to add it to my list for my next trip!

We spend a leisurely afternoon playing tourist at the Stanley Market in Hong Kong. It was a nice sunny day with a few clouds in the sky. It takes about 30 minutes to get here from Central. We wanted to get away from the city even though Stanley is just as busy. Here you will find a large selection of bars and pubs.
Iconic restaurants and colonial buildings which are also made infamous from TVB dramas.
It was packed everywhere and we settled for The Boathouse. The Boathouse Hong Kong in Stanley, is really not the same as The BoatHouse Restaurant in Vancouver. This Boathouse is dated and a tad run down. It is located beside the Pickled Pelican, which usually is jammed action packed. Deeply disappointed.
It needs a paint job and a face lift. The table clothes were dirty and had crumbs and stains. The tables were sticky. Services were slow and spotty. Why we stayed for bit really fathoms me. I think it was because we were so tired and thirsty.
A beer is a bear and there is not complaints here… or so you think. An ice cold glass would be much appreciated as opposed to the warm sleeve. For crying out loud the heat was sweltering about 30C and I can’t even enjoy a decent Tsing Tao in a Carlsberg glass.
Seafood Chowder: A salty mess with no seafood in sight.
I would have preferred to have squatted at Si Yik Cafe 泗益赤柱.

Tei Mou Koon 地茂館甜品 in Kowloon City is one of my go-to places for dessert. They have all sorts of goodies like tofu pudding 豆腐花, mango pudding, mango sago pomelo soup 楊枝甘露 , sesame soup 芝麻糊 , walnut soup 合桃露, and of course your standard red bean soup or […]
Langham Hotel Hong Kong 朗廷酒店 in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong was quite the treat whilst travelling, rushing around meeting up with friends and family. From hookah bars and shisha lounges, private Thai kitchens to outdoor kitchens, and your coffee house and dives, an afternoon tea revolving around a fairy tale theme with my girls (and a me day away from the hubs) was delightful. The Palm Court at the Langham Hotel was traditionally classic with all the bells and whistles – chandelier, plush seats, silverware and friendly services. Most of all, they were able to accommodates us with such little notice. Please remember to RSVP.

We ordered two Sleeping Beauty and one Beauty and the Beast. The presentation was beautiful and the selection were pretty good.
Plenty of savory finger sandwiches to go around and all made delicately with great flavors. Not your typical cucumber sandwiches! Next we move onto the sweets of macaron, chocolates, and tartlets from mildly sweet to bouncing of the walls type of sweet. There is something for all walks of life.
The scones were buttery and airy. Served with Devonshire cream and jam preserves.
Also at the end of our course we each received a souffle of your choice: Mango Caraibe Chocholate, Ginger and Candied Mandarin, or Hazelnut Cappuccino. Also you can choose a flavor of sauces – Raspberry Mint, Bitter Chocolate, and vanilla Bean. The souffle was light and airy, tho it looks as it has already collapsed a bit by the time we began nibbling at it.
