Today’s sushi making class we learned how to make Salmon Carpaccio, Dynamite Roll, and a Real Crab California Roll with a dungeness crab. Each person is given a sushi rolling mat to use and to keep.
In addition, each course is served with a sake taster : Premium Ginjo Sake, Nama Organic Sake, and Nigori Silky Mild Sake (unfiltered).
Salmon Carpaccio: The Chef gave us salmon sashimi and a peppercorn tuna. Garnishes of onions, Japanese sprouts, cucumbers and red peppers. We were shown how to roll the sashimi and dipped in ponzu vinaigrette.

Thanksgiving is a joyous time to be spent with family and friends but it is not always easy to whip up a 10 course meal featuring a turkey, stuffing, side dishes, desserts and everything else in between. Sometimes Thanksgiving feast scares me…
I’m a firm believer that any healthy lifestyle begins in the kitchen. Any diet and workout regime consists 80% diet and 20% exercise. The more junk one puts into the body, the more time and energy is required to breakdown the toxins. Lean meats, high fiber and low carbs really helped to improve my energy level and I don’t feel as sluggish mid-morning. Vega One All-In-One Nutritional Shakes also really helped to to curb my hunger pains while provided the necessary nutrients. However sometimes, it is a little too filling. That’s where Vega Energizing Smoothie falls in.
Compared to Vega One All-In-One Nutritional Shakes, Vega Energizing Smoothie still has 10grams of complete plant-based protein, 5 grams of fiber, 1 g of Omega-3. That is 2 servings of veggies that is dairy, gluten and soy free! It comes in various flavors such as Bodacious Berry, Choc-a-lot, Oh Natural, Tropical Tango and Vanilla Almond flavors. I tried the Tropical Tango which is like a mango, peachy type citrus blend. The flavour is mild but has a slight orange vitamin taste. Not a deal breaker for me, but would make it harder to mix with fresh fruits. Your selection should complement the orange-y taste. So blueberries are out of the questions.
Vega Energizing Smoothie vs. Vega One Nutritional shake, the powder is very clumpy and does not dissolve easily. So you will either need to mix it vigorously or used a Magic Bullet Blender to blitz it for 30 secs.
This makes a great pre-run / pre-workout drink. I usually one after work and before Vinyasa class. I don’t feel like I want to puke transitioning to Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (updog).
What do you like to mix with your supplement shakes or with Vega Energizing Smoothie? Do you add chia seeds or a banana?
There are four flavors to Vega One All-In-One Nutritional Shakes: French Vanilla, Chocolate, Berry and Natural. After looking up the ingredients and nutritional info I was excited to try it. Vega One is plant-based and is dairy free, gluten-free, soy free and contains contains no…
