Good Earth Coffeehouse is a popular Alberta-based coffee franchisee that recently just entered Vancouver’s coffee scene! The first location is located in the Point Grey neighbourhood at 2505 Alma Street and Broadway. It is around the corner from Nourish. Co-founder Nan Eskenazi plans to open three to […]
Hey Happy Coffee puts a smile on my face period. This single-cup service of robust coffee is located in Downtown Victoria at 560 Johnson Street. I’m happy to see a new wave of boutique cafes instead of chains that boast “serious coffee”.
Owner Rob Kettner coined the cafe Hey Happy Coffee after Indie film Hey, Happy. There are a few seating booths and a bright naturally lit space in the front. A bright splash of lime green on the wall highlights the menu and an old record player.
For coffee lovers, Hey Happy offers a rotating fresh sheet. 21 grams of coffee to 325 grams of water for each single brew pour over a Chemex. There is a method to this madness. There is a science to good tasting coffee. Stocklist and coffee beans includes Phil & Sebastian (Calgary), Heart (Portland), etc.
Regardless one sip of their coconut milk iced latte and you will be converted too! Still not convinced? Cascara Slushee, Mint Julep coffee cocktail and chilled bottle coffee makes your standard iced Americano cry.
But first, let’s talk about their coconut milk iced latte. Most “coconut milk” anything is thin and watery. Instead HH’s version is creamy, rich and ultra smooth. The coconut milk itself gives it that splash of sweetness. Now that’s five bucks I’m happy to pay for!
Nitro Cold Brew: Smooth and crisp like beer. Super refreshing on dog days of summer.
Cascara Slushee: this light and slightly sweet slurpee is pretty just to look at. Cascara itself is actually the fruit that the coffee bean is grown in. The fruit is dehydrated and then steeped with honey, mint and lime. Then into the slushee machine. It is not the same cascara buckthorn native to Western North America from southern British Columbia south to Central California
Does your coffee make you happy?

Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland is a high-end coffee shop that has developed quite a cult following. This specialty coffee shop has locations throughout PDX (much like Prado and 49th Parallel coffee in Vancouver). But of course, many of its fans got really upset when […]
Cafe Crema is a coffee shop in West Vancouver next to Ambleside Park. It is conveniently located with plenty of free street parking. Cafe Crema is run by Gianniakos family that also owns Revolver in Gastown. Cafe Crema is more a neighborly coffee shop compared to its hip sister.
Cappuccino: A creamy cup espresso with good mouth feel of well portioned hot milk and steamed milk foam. I like the coffee is not acidic and does not have a lingering bitterness after taste.
Duo Sandwich: Crema has a few selection of sandwiches and wraps. We picked up a Duo Sandwich with roasted peppers, salami and cheese. It is tasty and comes warmed up. I good mid-day pick me up. Dave and I shared the sandwich just to bridge us between breakfast to our drive to Whistler for a spa day at Scandinave Spa.
Grab a cookie on the way out! They are big and soft. I love their peanut butter cookie and chocolate chips.

Good Coffee Portland offers great coffee and aesthetics. Every detail counts: marble counters, bench sets, chairs that feels like a giant hug and even a cowhide rug. For those Instagram obsessed, there’s even “good” tiles the entrance for you to take a photo #ihavethisthingwithfloors photo. […]
Patrice Pâtissier Montreal is located just steps away from Joe Beef and Liverpool House in Little Burgundy. It is a quick subway ride to Station Lionel-Groulx. If you are in the area, do also check out Marche Atwater market. It is a lot like Marches Jean Talon Public Market. The shop is opened by Pastry Chef Patrice Demers and his fiancée and sommelière Marie-Josée Beaudouin. Patrice Pâtissier offers a variety of delicious eclairs, sables, coffee and will also be serving some savoury treats.
Patrice Pâtissier is a simple modern bakery and coffee shop with high quality pastries. There’s a great bar counter to people watch and a workshop in the back. Prices ranges $3 to $6 per piece. Their Americano espresso is strong and earthy.
Choux a la Creme 5.50: A perfection of caramel, chocolate and banana cream crispy pastry. I liked that is was not too sweet. If you are a fan of banana cream, you must stop by Roselle in Toronto King Street East. Their Banana Cream Eclair is filled with a caramelized banana and vanilla bean cream.
Eclair 5.50: These eclair donuts with apricots are light and with a soft crispy crunch.

Prado Cafe is adding a third location on 4208 Fraser Street (at East 26th Ave). Now you can enjoy the same coffee as their Commercial Drive and Gastown coffee shops. Prado Cafe is managed by multi world barista World Barista Championship finalist, Sammy Piccolo. It serves 49th Parallel coffee and their food menu has expanded with baked goods and sandwiches. There is also two types of kombucha on tap! Hipsters rejoice!
Tonight we came to check out the grand opening party shindig and to grab a cup of flat white.
The coffee shop consists of white walls mixed with wood furniture adored with the Tiffany turquoise coffee mugs makes for a very Instagramable cafe. The cafe is roomy and has approximately 20 seats perfect for an “office” or just catching up with friends.
Creamy glass of flat white after a long day at work.
