Yellow Dog Brewing Co is one of the microbreweries in thePort Moody (Tri-Cities). Across the street is Rocky Point Park. Next to it is Twin Sails Brewing and Parkside Brewery. Port Moody really is the place to be. This area is finally growing up with local beer, […]
Faculty Brewing Co. is the newest addition to Vancouver’s craft beer scene. Opened net even a week and it is promising. It is located in the Mount Pleasant / Olympic Village neighbourhood at 1830 Ontario Street (and 3rd Avenue) where Pedal Bike Depot used to […]
Strathcona Beer Company as the name suggests is located in the Strathcona neighbourhood. At the corner of 895 E Hastings and Campbell Ave is a 12,000 sqft brewery complete with ample seating (long communal tables and diner booths), a pizza station and even a growler takeout area. The windows around the brewery slides open fully for that breezy summer’s air to flow through.
Strathcona Beer Company Beer Menu
Four different types of beer
- Belgian Ale
- Kolsch / Lemon Radler
- India Session Ale
- India Pale Ale
My favorite was the smooth Strathcona Gold and the crisp Kolsch.
It’s only been a few weeks since Strathcona Beer Company has opened, but everything seems promising. There is definitely no shortage to this craft beer craze in Vancouver! Next time, go and share a pie and some drinks with your friends! It’s great to see some life in this neighbourhood that is rapidly transforming.

33 Acres Brewing Company is located on 15 West 8th Avenue and Ontario Street in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. Some of life’s tough questions gets thoroughly dissected after many intensifying and tear jerking sermons at Tenth. Beer or Brunch: Which is more important? Perhaps an […]
Steel & Oak Brewing Co New Westminster is a micro-brewery located by Key West Ford on the tiny corner of 3rd Avenue and Stewardson Way beside the overpass. Life under the overpass pours starting at $4.50 /glass.
The space is defined by wood panels and industrial steel. Co-owners Jorden Foss and James Garbutt have put together a great line up of craft beer repertoire that was well received during Vancouver Craft Beer Week – lager, ESB, Hefeweizen and Radler.
Come in for an relaxing afternoon with friendly beer trekkers or bring home growlers. We came here recently for a pit stop before a wedding banquet at Dragon View Chinese restaurant in Richmond.
The the table is a flight of four beers for $6.50.
Dark Lager – 5.0% ABV / 28 IBU / FLAGSHIP
Bread crust, chocolate, nuts and toffee emanate from this Munich Dunkel. With a surprisingly light mouth feel, this unfiltered lager has a dominant malt flavour accented by notes of almonds, toast and a touch of caramel. All which contribute to the well-rounded complexity and depth that this classic German style has to offer.
Smoked Hefeweizen – 5.2% ABV / 15 IBU / SEASONAL
Smoke rises from the white pillowy head of this traditional Bamberg style unfiltered wheat beer. Banana and clove weave through the Beechwood smoked malts as hints of astringency play with the higher carbonation as it dances on your tongue.
Projekt 0003 – 5.0% ABV / 35 IBU / SEASONAL
The Projekt serves as a platform for the hop intrigued. The core of the beer, a light malt sweetness and mild bittering will stay as a backbone for flavour. In Batch 0003 Hull Melon and Jarrylo are used imparting a fruity aroma with notes of strawberry, banana, honeydew and orange.
Radler – LEMONADE + BEER
This popular German beverage is made to order in our Tasting Room all year round. Half lemonade and half beer of your choice, the S&O Radler is a refreshing alternative to a full strength beer.
We also ordered their lightest beer.
Royal City Ale – 5% ABV / 20 IBU / FLAGSHIP
Lightly dry-hopped for a gentle floral aroma, this American Blonde Ale is light in colour and medium bodied to suit. A simple mix of classic pale malts paired with a mild bitterness impart this beer with drinkability and easy going flavour components.
I particularly enjoyed the easy drink of Radler. Only available at their tasting room year round. It is half lemonade, half beer, and full joy! So refreshing and perfect for a mid-day break!
