Every time Deedmonton* visits Vancouver, we are always on a mission to find some delicious and swimmingly fresh salmon sashimi for them. Every time we feel like we should wow them with our sushi to lure them to move here. Although Edmonton is only perhaps 1h26m flight, we don’t see our dear friends nearly enough. And as much that we have contemplated a life in the burbs where houses cost less than $300K, the mountains, Pacific Ocean, and fair weather is hard to give up. Anyways, we ended up at Sushimoto Burnaby – next to the Holdom Skytrain Station off of Lougheed Highway.
Sushimoto is a small Japanese Restaurant decor with action figures and a few tables. We suggest making reservations as it does get extremely busy. The prices here are fair and the portions vary.
Uni Ikura Don Rice Bowl 15: We suggest ordering this vs a Uni Sashimi since 4 piece Uni costs $10. You get 4 pieces in the Don plus a bed of Ikura roe and rice. Sounds like a no brainer for $5 extra dollars.
Salmon Don: eight full sized salmon sashimi with a big hearty bowl of sushi rice. Please don’t tell my fiance I’m cheating of my carb-free day! That’s our secret!
Red Hot Chili Roll: chopped scallop roll with spicy tuna on top with green onion, spicy mayo and spicy sauce
Rich Green Roll: Unagi roll with avocado, wasabi tobiko on top, wasabi mayo and unagi sauce
Seared Salmon oshizushi: Fans of battera sushi will enjoy both the seared salmon and seared saba Oshi Sushi. Albeit not Miku Restaurant and Minami Restaurant, it is still pretty tasty. Both has a nice sear and fresh flavors.
Seared Saba oshizuhi
Negitoro Roll 3.50: chopped toro and green onions always is my go to roll. I would prefer a little more greens.
Chopped Scallop 3.90:
Soft Shell Crab Roll 6.90:
