WHAT? No smiley suns? No checkered table clothes nor a menu laced with fluffy pancakes?

Which rabbit hole did I fall into when we arrived at the door steps of The Superior Victoria? The interior is eccentric. It is like a teenage rebellion away from the norm. The deer heads decor, may sounds barbaric, but it fits this place to a T. Written by its own rules, brings together local food, art, and music lives steps away from Fisherman’s Wharf and a 10 minute walk from the inner harbor (Soda Shoppe, Legislative Building and Fairmont Empress) is the large brick building at the corner of Kingston and Superior Street.

You may be skeptical to try this place based on its looks. But why does brunch have to be about rainbows, unicorns and ponies? I like my piano player serenading me whilst we eat our flavorful and spectacular brunch! We’re so glad we listened to the concierge’s recommendation when we asked her where the best brunch place is in Victoria. Last time we did this in Montreal, we ended up at Cora’s. It was good, but apparently there was one just 5 mins walk from home.

CHORIZO HASH 11

I love potatoes when they are well seasoned with herbs and scallions aioli. Add an over medium egg with a slight yolk run with toast. These could damn well be the best potatoes hash I’ve had in a bloody long time. Slightly crispy on the outside.

EGGS BENNY 12

Buttermilk biscuits, salsa verde potatoes, roasted garlic miso hollandaise, with bacon jam or tomato chutney. We chose tomato chutney. The salsa verde had such a fabulous flavor of parsley, basil etc that it really lifted the garlic hollandaise sauce mixed with tomato chutney. Slightly tangy while caressing some creamy egg yolks. Sinful.

I hope you get to try the Superior Restaurant in Victoria sometime; perhaps even for dinner. Please let us know how it went. I hope the next time I head back to Victoria this place will still be around! Chef Torin Egan. You made my day!
