Spoon Kitchen is a new Malaysian restaurant that opened on West 4th in Kitsilano. There’s a tough crowd to please being located across the street from Maenam, one of Vancouver’s best fine Thai Restaurant.

Currently SocialShopper is offering an amazing deal for $33 for Nine-Course Malaysian Dinner with Seafood for Two People (Value $56).

The nine course one order of roti, two chicken satays, mango salad, deep fried calamari, caramelized ginger fish fillet, Rendang beef curry, Sambal green beans, turmeric ginger steamed rice plus one dessert to share.

Mango Salad: pickled carrots, radishes and mango slivers with a simple vinaigrette

Appetizer platter of roti, chicken satays and deep fried calamari. Each with it’s own dipping sauce. My favorite of these was the tender and juicy chicken satays.

Ginger Fish Fillet: The fish was very fresh. The ginger sauce is towards the sweeter side without the spiciness of ginger.

Sambal Green Beans: sautéed string beans with eggplant.

Rendang Beef Curry: this spicy curry is perfect addition to any rice dish.

Turmeric Ginger Steamed Rice mixed with some corn.

For dessert, we ended with Vanilla Ice Cream served with two crispy cream corn medallions.

The portions for the nine course meal is decently sized and does get you quite full. It is a great way to sample a little of every dish. For $33 or $16.50 each is not an expensive meal at all! The variety is perfect!
