SALADE DE FRUIT BISTRO

Located inside the French Cultural Center, Salade de Fruits can be easily missed. But those fond of French cuisine and a casual bistro to dine in won’t pass up this opportunity. In fact, you will probably need to fight for elbow space with their loyal clienteles. Reservations highly recommended.  The red bricks, high ceilings and even the Adventures of Tin Tin is warm and inviting. The restaurant itself, is really small in fact. Compared to Pied-â-Terre,  Salade de Fruits, this casual setting is nothing less of a good meal. Owners Antoine Bonard and Balendran Rameshan runs the front end greeting customers with friendly services and a sense of humor.

On the board, daily specials and Table d’Hote menu starting at 28. Comes with starter salad and finishes with a creme brulee.

SALADE DE FRUIT BISTRO

Starter Salad: Grilled prawn skewers on a bed of spring greens and dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. It pleases the eye to see a generous size and bouncy shellfish. What a great way to start.

SALADE DE FRUIT BISTRO

Escargot: We ordered a side of garlic butter escargot. The little critters were juicy, tender, and bouncy with savory flavours of garlic. The most traditional French appetizer where all we wanted to do was to soak in our baguette. I’m so glad it is not the mouthful of oil at Les Faux Bourgeois.

Duo Poisson: Salmon and a lobster tail severed with beets and winter greens. A creamy lobster butter sauce flavored with some herbs. Simple but very moist and cooked right.

SALADE DE FRUIT BISTRO

Poulet Forestier: Winter greens, beets and tomatoes, peppers and olives dress this poulet. Le Poulet was graciously tender and well seasoned.

SALADE DE FRUIT BISTRO

Creme Brulee: To finish, a creamy custard dusted with sugar greeted us. Everything was just right – egg yolks, sugar, cream and vanilla extract. simple. decadent.
