Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company recently invited us to spend an afternoon over pizza on their Kitsilano patio. No one ever said no to pizza. They also have another location located on 4186 Main Street. Vancouver weather has been quite warm recently and forecast says we are in for a hot one this summer. Aside from all the environment concerns, I am quite excited to spend as much time outdoors on the patio or biking (indoors and out)!

Suzanne Fielden, Owner showed us how they are reducing their Carbon Footprint. At the back of the restaurant, there is a greenhouse composting system developed by Urban Stream. This onsite worm composter quickly breaks down organic waste like food scraps into a valuable soil amendment.
Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company uses to grow their own arugulas, basils, and other seasonal vegetables. This was pretty cool. Similar structure like this may be rare in Vancouver as they literally had to jump thru hoops to get this one approved. Also, they have a team of educators that work with students teaching them to grow their own food and create seasonal healthy snacks. It is always heartwarming to see restaurants Pay It Forward.
WEST COAST SALMON FLATBREAD 10.95: Extra thin crust, brushed with roasted garlic spread, sprinkled with Quebec mozzarella cheese, shaved onions & capers. Baked in our artisan oven, topped with wild smoked salmon, lemon horseradish drizzle & fresh chives.
FIG & GOAT’S CHEESE SALAD 9.50 reg | 13.50 large: Assorted organic leaves, crunchy cucumbers, ripe tomatoes, shaved red onions & mixed with goat’s cheese in a creamy sundried black mission fig dressing. I’m not typically a fan of goat cheese, but this salad is pretty awesome. The goat cheese isn’t overpowering.
FRESH BASIL AND BLACKBERRY SALAD 8.50 reg | 12.50 large: Fresh organic green leaves, brown mushrooms, mango & roasted red bell peppers tossed in a basil & blackberry dressing.
PARMA 9.95 small | 14.50 reg | 23.50 large: Organic tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, Schinken speck (cured ham), brown mushrooms & mango. Topped with roughly chopped arugula & parmesan cheese.
DAILY CHEESECAKE: Orange and coconut that is gluten free. This summer pie tastes like a cremsicle!
WARM DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE: One of Rocky Mountain Flatbread’s signature dessert. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
