Executive Chef Angus An, a fellow UBC graduate went on to New York’s French Culinary Institute and then apprenticed at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s legendary Jo-Jo and trained at other Michelin star restaurants. So it should not be a surprise that LA Times Magazine also featured Maenam in their Northern Exposure Restaurant article.

When ethnic food leaps beyond mom-and-pop level, things get exciting. Chef-owner Angus An cooked at Michelin-starred Nahm in London, and here he has elevated Vancouver Thai dining to new heights—refined and modern yet authentic and true to its roots. If stir-fried squid with chile jam or crispy ling cod dry curry sounds good, come on down.

Plump juicy mussles swimming in house special broth that is excitingly hot, sour and spicy. Cherry tomatoes and basil compliments well. Dip into side sauce for extra oomph!

cherry tomatoes, lychees, kaffir lime leaves, thai basil, a rich and aromatic red curry. Strong, pungent, and spicy. Shredded duck melts in your mouth. Be sure to order a side of Jasmine rice or Rotti to scoop, dip, mix together!!

crispy lingcod, thai basil, equally sweet, salty and sour. Caramelized garlic and garnish tamarind on top a perfectly cooked fish. This dish is on the dry side where the sweet-spicy sauce is supposed to blanket the lingcod.
