Goldfish Seafood & Chop located at 1118 Mainland Street in Yaletown, or home to the future Minami Restaurant opening in summer 2012 with a different concept. As Bud Kanke, age of 70+ contemplates retirement; the new space will be absorbed by Aburi Restaurant Canada Ltd (or better known as Miku Restaurant).
I am writing this rather urgently as I learnt that Goldfish will be closing doors Sunday, February 5 2012, after completion of Dine Out Vancouver. Goldfish was first introduced in 2007 specializing in West Coast cuisine with Pacific Rim flavours. The space is charming with soft pastel colored lights, intimate booths and larger group table in the main dining room, private room in the back and an open bar lounge area.
Celebrating birthdays, happy hours, Dine Out Vancouver and Taste of Yaletown we had spent countless hours throughout the years… as I reminiscent over the years, was the food good? Yes. Does it matter now? Probably not (but it depends where the chefs and the staff depart to). And is this post somewhat sentimental? For sure. It was always a hop, skip and a jump away. Yaletown was our playground; where we used to chill. And I will forever miss the little goldfishes over some wine and cocktail; and definitely the crème brulee!
But as we await the curtains to be lowered and the dawn of a new era… please join me for the following photoblog 2007-2012. And if you happen to visit Goldfish as they part our ways, please let me know how the finale was! Much <3.
