Celebrated locavore chef David Gunawan continues a series of monthly collaborative events at South Granville’s Farmer’s Apprentice when he welcomes Jesse McCleery of Galiano Island’s famed Pilgrimme restaurant to co-host a guest chef dinner on Wednesday, June 7.
Featuring two seatings at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., tickets to the dinner are available for $140 per person, including taxes and gratuity, and offer a six-course feast with wine pairings selected by wine director Kieran Fanning.
Sharing more than their philosophy of conscious cuisine, chefs Gunawan and McCleery prepare dishes with ingredients procured daily from local farms, forests, pastures and providers. Both restaurants have also previously been singled out for praise on enRoute‘s prestigious annual list of Canada’s Best New Restaurants, with Farmer’s Apprentice feted as No. 2 in the country in 2014 and Pilgrimme garnering the No. 3 slot on the 2015 edition.
“It’s an honour for us to collaborate with Jesse on this dinner,” says Gunawan. “More than a true culinary talent, I consider Jesse a kindred spirit as he embraces the same beliefs when it comes to supporting providers in our own backyard.”
