Foundation, Vancouver

I took Banana Girl to lunch at one of my fav’s, Foundation. They are located on Main Street, a hang out for hipsters and posers alike.

Food: 4.5
Service: 1.5
Ambiance: 1.5

I just want to set some ground rules before suggesting you visit Foundations. If you are requiring any type of friendly, timely, customer service… Drive or walk away!!! They simply don’t give a shit. Banana Girl and I waited for 10 minutes behind another couple with two empty tables. The waitress just simply completed all her other tasks before proceeding to seat us. She apologized for the wait, but I question how genuine she was.

I have to apologize. I was coming here to order the:

Mango Forte

It sucks that they don’t even let you have a chance to ask them if they can make an exception, not that I had high hopes.

On to what we did order. We had the Upper East Side, BLT-ish, and Insurgent Hummus. Cool

Upper East Side Consist of Beans, Mango, Rice. It was served with a chili sauce / salsa on the side for dipping. I love the mango incorporated in this dish and the Mango Forte. It is so fresh, lifts the flavors of the dish. The chili sauce gives every spoonful a nice kick as well.

BLT-ish, this is the first time I’ve tried this sandwich. Basically it is their take on making a BLT with on vegetarian ingredients. Tofu as bacon with pesto and goat cheese. It doesn’t taste like a traditional BLT. I actually like the ‘bacon’ on this better than overcooked bacon.

We didn’t feel like this was enough so we ordered the Insurgent Hummus as well, served with toasted flat bread and tortilla chips.

To end off, a couple of pictures of what others are having.

At the end of the day, we were full and satisfied. I don’t want to sound gross but another perk of eating at foundations… it will help increase you metabolism FAST!

In conclusion:

  • Hipster central
  • If you are in a hurry, come back another day
  • Don’t take reservations
  • Fresh, healthy ingredients
  • Great value
  • Big Portions
  • Depending on your server, service is a hit/miss
