CANOE BREWPUB Restaurant and Marina is located in the emerging Design District of Victoria, BC. This waterfront patio with ample space is one of along Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Canoe Brewpub makes their own in house handcrafted beers are brewed in small batches to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 using only the finest malted barley, hops, yeast and water. They are naturally carbonated, unfiltered and created without the use of additives or preservatives. Their beers have become legendary in Victoria and throughout the Pacific Northwest for their crisp, clean & pure flavours.

Dave had the river rock bitter. He often stays away from honey lagers and alike because the bitter after taste is what forms the complexity of the beer for him. I took a sip, and in my opinion it was more fitted for a dining beverage but taste great regardless.

I couldn’t help myself but to order a Bloody Caesars $6. This bloody caesar came with olives and a shallot for garnish. I wish there was more salt on the rim and a little more kick.

Mussels Siren’s Song Pale Ale $14.50 add fries + aioli for $2: These mussels swam in their specialty beer along with fresh chili, leeks, garlic, tomatoes and served with garlic crouton. We wanted to see how these babies measure up to Biercraft and Cadero’s or even the now closed El Barrio Restaurante Latino.

Crispy Cod Fishwich $16: Upgraded Filet O’fish flash fried in pale ale battered and served with aged cheddar, lettuce, tomato, tartar sauce, pickle, brioche bun. The fish was juicy and the bun wasn’t soggy. But for $16? It was kind of pricey. So I’m not quite sure about that. Seasonal greens, fries or daily soup came as a side.

Aussie Pub Burger $17: The fallen tower of natural beef patty can to our table. It looks like all the weight from the beetroot, bacon, aged cheddar, fried egg (Yes! Fried Egg), signature sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, brioche bun and pickle was collapsing the presentation. The creaminess of the yolk against the juicy beef was sinister. House special ketchup was light and tangy with a lil kick. More seasoning on the beef patty would be preferred.

Hours later, drunk, fed and somewhat sun burnt. I was developing a lobster like glow we left to explore downtown Victoria. I had a pretty good patio experience at CANOE BREWPUB overall. I do find our tab to be a tad expensive. Alas, the prices we pay for a waterfront patio panorama.

Where do you suggest as the best patio in Victoria?
