One would often think that there is a plentiful array of restos to eat in Downtown. However, this isn’t the case, especially if you’re looking for food during lunch hour. If anyone’s ever worked in Downtown they would understand that “table for one” isn’t always easy and food-court food isn’t always the most appealing or healthiest choice for that matter. Sure it’s
cheap, reasonable, convenient, but after awhile your taste-buds would definitely go on strike! I used to work near Waterfront. To tell you the truth there isn’t a lot of places to choose from… Sinclair Centre, Pacific Centre, Granville Street… everything seems to taste the same after awhile… Likely, there is Brioche! – on the corner of Cordova and Homer – kiddy corner to The Block (oh, how I miss shopping here during lunch time!)
Brioche is a lively, bustling cafe serving some of Vancouver’s best cafe lattes, paninis/sandwiches, salads, and hearty stews! Come early before noon to avoid the rush (you can always call in to pre-order if you are in a rush for pick up). Closing at 8pm daily, this resto is more of a breakfast, brunch and lunch place… On the weekends I still frequently come back for their quality fresh ingredients and for nostalgic reasons.
Their SPECIALS BOARD (daily specials)…are always on the chalk-board door… quiches, pizzas, specialty pizzas and daily soup.
(Sauteed Seafood, Penne Noodles, Veggies, simmered in a Garlic Tomato Broth) Served with greek salad. Available for 1 or 2 people. Heavenly! Usually only available on Fridays and over the weekend… Hearty and delish! You will have to try it to understand!
(maple smoked bacon, roma tomoto & our house ceasar dressing). Order full or half size. This salad brings zest to the rather boring ceasar.
Green String Bean, Prawn Skewers and Fried Bocconcini Salad
Order you own creation of omelets! Choose from a selection of mushrooms, veggies, and proteins! Pair it with fresh squeezed OJ!
Chorizo Sausage Panini
(specialty chorizo sausage, lettuce, tomatoes, avocados and bocconcini mmmm… ) chorizo is delish with some spicy kick.
Prosciutto, Bocconcini & Tomato Panini
(Premium Panini made with prosciutto, bocconcini, tomato & lettuce)… Option for the focaccia over the baguette drizzled slight with olive oil.
If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to try their pastries, and tiramisu!
Really you must come try it out yourself. This place is a great!
Now that I read about it on their website… Their chefs are well seasoned, no wonder something so simple can be so delicious!
Eduardo Bilardello, head chef and owner began his culinary career in Sicily over 25 years ago! His Italian/West Coast style always amazes even the most particular of clients. The focus is on freshness, quality, and above all, flavour. And it can’t go without saying that Eduardo wouldn’t make you something to eat that Mama Pina in Palermo wouldn’t approve of!
