Blue Star Donuts in Portland is one of the best doughnuts available. I love them for their delicious buttery brioche dough. And if you’ve visited Portland, Oregon, I’m sure you’ve been told that Voodoo Doughnuts is a must. Truth is, Voodoo Doughnuts is for tourists. You are missing out, if you think those quirky donut creations are the city’s best. Blue Star Donuts is where you want to be at!
Their donuts are made from a classic brioche recipe thatoriginated in the south of France. They make their doughs from scratch daily and takes 18 hours with sustainable bread flour from Shepherds Grain, add cage free eggs, whole hormone-free milk, and then fold in a European-style butter.
Their donuts are buttery rich, airy, spongey and has little grease. Plus, they are not sickeningly sweet.
Blue Star Donuts has few locations throughout Portland, Los Angeles and also Tokyo, Japan. Flavors and selections changes daily and sells out quickly. If you love a creamy filling, we recommend the signature donut: Cointreau Creme Brulee. It is decadent with vanilla custard, Cointreau syrup and sugar torched topping.
What to order? Everything looks really good. I wanted to try everything. I wanted to try the Passion Fruit Cocoa Nib, a classic Blueberry, Bourbon and Basil, Pistachio Cheesecake and even the over the top Chocolate Almond Ganache.
How many donuts can I eat without being judged?
