Ever since my trip to Japan I had been very fond of UCC Coffee. UCC Ueshima Coffee Co., Ltd is a coffee manufacturer in Kobe, Hyogo prefecture Japan. The coffee is rich, dark and memorizing. The closet I’ve been in contact with it since we last departed was in Olympian City in West Kowloon, Hong Kong… Then Gyo-o brought in the canned version and I thought I was in heaven. But then finally Aoyama Café in Aberdeen Mall in Richmond / No 3 Road brought premium siphoned coffees from around the world and delicious Euro-Japanese fusion cuisine. UCC coffee was brewed fresh. Again it was like long lost loved ones re-unite.

Aoyama Café offers a little more than just coffee. They also serve Euro-Japanese fusion pasta, curries  and Japanese rice meals as well as desserts and waffles. The interior is comfortable with booth seats and tables in warm colors.

Tonkatsu Rice

Deep Fried Pork Cutlet on Rice. The pork cutlet itself were tender and not greasy. Portion wise was quite generous. The sauce was too salty and just too heavy. It is best asked served on the side instead of having it smothered on top. Salad came with the combo but it was small and I’d rather skip this to spend on a cuppa joe instead.

Ham and Tomato Spaghetti

Nothing special. Just you regular tomato paste mixed pasta. The pasta was al dente I give it that but it wouldn’t be something you can’t do at home on a budget.

Shrimp and Mushroom Spaghetti in cream sauce

The shrimps were fresh and the mushrooms, bell peppers were a good addition. This was much better when compared to the above. It offered more seasoning and flavours were more enjoyable.

Deep Fried Chicken Nuggets on Tomato Spaghetti

Tomato paste spaghetti with dry chicken nuggets.

Smoked Salmon Omurice

Omurice is a curried rice pilaf wrapped with a thin Japanese egg omelet. The rice was dry but very flavourful – sometimes the execution is not very consistent. Served with cream spinach sauce.

I much prefer their coffee and desserts than their food. I mean it is not terrible, but I would rather hit up the food court on the 3rd level.
